Episkopi, Limassol
Episkopi ( el, Επισκοπή, tr, Piskobu) is a village lying partly in the Limassol district of Cyprus and partly in the British Overseas Territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia. It is approximately west of Limassol and east of Paphos. Episkopi is built on the hill of ancient Kourion, close to the western bank of the Kouris River. In the medieval Kingdom of Cyprus, Episkopi was granted in fief to the House of Ibelin. It was in the hands of Federico Cornaro (died 1382), Federico Cornaro of the Republic of Venice from 1367 and granted to him in 1374 by the indebted king.; It was known as La Piscopia da Cornaro, and the branch of the Cornaro family descended from Federico became known as ''Cornaro Piscopia''. Episkopi Cantonment
Episkopi Cantonment ( el, Φρουρά Επισκοπή, tr, Episkopi Kantonu) is the capital of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, a British overseas territory on the island of Cyprus, administered as a military base. It is located in the northwestern part of the Western Sovereign Base Area (Akrotiri), one of the two areas which comprise the territory. Although it is not the largest of the British military bases on the island, it is home to both the civilian and military administration headquarters of the Sovereign Base Areas. Episkopi is the current command centre of British Forces Cyprus. Etymology The word 'Episkopi' in Episkopi Cantonment's name comes from the Greek word Επισκοπικός meaning "Episcopal." The cantonment was named so due to the site previously serving as the bishop's seat of an Orthodox diocese. Episkopi, also known as Episcopi, Episcopí, Piskobu, is a village 11 kilometres northeast from the city of Paphos in Cyprus. It is located at above sea level. Episkopi Paphou is one of the “villages of Minthi”, along with Kallepia, Tsada and the Minthis Hills tourist project, which essentially consists of a “cooperation” of communities, under a common umbrella, in order to highlight their history, their tradition and their unique natural environment. Bellapais Abbey
Bellapais Abbey (also spelled Bellapaïs) is the ruin of a monastery built by Canons Regular in the 13th century on the northern side of the small village of Bellapais, now in Turkish- controlled Northern Cyprus, about five kilometres from the town of Kyrenia. The ruin is at an altitude of 220 m above sea level, and commands a long view down to Kyrenia and the Mediterranean sea. The site is also a museum, which hosts a restaurant and a cafe. The Abbey's refectory now serves as a venue for concerts and lectures. In early summer it is also a venue for a local music festival. Episkopi Ierapetras is a village on the Greek island of Crete. Episkopi belongs to the municipality of Ierapetra in the prefecture of Lasithi. It lies north of Ierapetra in the middle of the narrowest part of the island. The village has approximately one thousand inhabitants. The village was established during the Minoan period, probably between 2500 and 2000 BCE. It is located 6.5 km north of Ierapetra on the road from Agios Nikolaos to Ierapetra at 120 m a.s.l.
