Eoline is an unincorporated community in Bibb County, Alabama, United States. Eoline is located on U.S. Route 82, northwest of Centreville. During the 2011 Super Outbreak, the Eoline Fire Department was destroyed by an EF3 tornado. History The community was located on the Mobile and Ohio Railroad and was named after the daughter of the M&O Vice-President, Edward Russell. Mobile And Ohio Railroad
The Mobile and Ohio Railroad was a railroad in the Southern U.S. The M&O was chartered in January and February 1848 by the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. It was planned to span the distance between the seaport of Mobile, Alabama and the Ohio River near Cairo, Illinois. On September 13, 1940 it was merged with the Gulf, Mobile and Northern Railroad to form the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad. At the end of 1925 M&O operated of road and of track; that year it reported 1785 million ton-miles of revenue freight and 49 million passenger-miles. EF3 Tornado
The Enhanced Fujita scale (abbreviated as EF-Scale) rates tornado intensity based on the severity of the damage they cause. It is used in some countries, including the United States, Canada, China, and Mongolia. The Enhanced Fujita scale replaced the decommissioned Fujita scale that was introduced in 1971 by Ted Fujita. 2011 Super Outbreak
The 2011 Super Outbreak was the largest, costliest, and one of the deadliest tornado outbreaks ever recorded, taking place in the Southern, Midwestern, and Northeastern United States from April 25–28, 2011, leaving catastrophic destruction in its wake. Over 175 tornadoes struck Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee, which were the most severely damaged states. Other destructive tornadoes occurred in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, and Virginia, with storms also affecting other states in the Southern and Eastern United States. Centreville is a city in Bibb County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 2,800. The city is the county seat of Bibb County. Area codes 205 and 659 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the western and central parts of the U.S. State of Alabama, including the cities of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Area code 205 was one of the original area codes created in 1947 when the NANP was placed in operation by AT&T. It encompassed the entire state, making Alabama one of 34 states served by a single numbering plan area. By the 1990s, 205 was on the brink of exhaustion due to the state's growth and the proliferation of cell phones and pagers. In 1995, area code 334 was created to serve the area from Montgomery southward.
