Entrance To The Labyrinth
''Entrance to the Labyrinth'' (russian: Вход в лабиринт, Vkhod v labirint) is a 1989 Soviet five-episode television crime film directed by Valeriy Kremnev based on the Vayner Brothers novel ''Medicine against Fear''. Plot The film consists of several storylines. Main one occurs in the USSR in the 1980s - a detective story about scammers who, using a police identification card, break into the apartments of dishonest people and rob them under the guise of a search. When studying this case, investigator Muromtsev discovers a conflict between two inventors of miracle drug metaproptozole, called abroad as "medicine against fear". The professor does not believe in the existence of this drug because he did not succeed in inventing it himself. Therefore, he denies that his opponent Lyzhin, who is considered a kooky eccentric could invent such a drug. The Vayner Brothers (russian: Братья Вайнеры), (1931-2005) and ) (1938-2009), were popular Soviet mystery fiction writers of Russian Jewish descent. Valentin Yuryevich Nikulin (russian: Валенти́н Ю́рьевич Нику́лин; 7 July 1932, Moscow — 6 August 2005, Moscow) was a Soviet, Russian and Israeli theater and film actor. Nikulin was born in the family of the playwright Yuri Nikulin (1907-1958) and pianist Eugeniya Brooke (1909-1982); nephew of the writer Lev Nikulin and actors Konstantin Shayne and Tamara Shayne, and a grandson of impresario Veniamin Nikulin. Nikulin graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in law in 1957 and from the School-Studio at the Moscow Art Theatre (1956–60). Rogvold Vasilyevich Sukhoverko (russian: Рогволд Васильевич Суховерко; 30 October 1941 – 9 April 2015) was a Soviet and Russian film and voice actor. Biography Rogvold Sukhoverko was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) on 30 October 1941, to Vasiliy Vasilevich Suhoverko, a military doctor, and Aleksandra Yakovlevna (née Terenteva) Suhoverko. In 1965, Sukhoverko graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre school (class of Vasily Markov). In the same year he joined the troupe of the Sovremennik Theatre, where he worked for many years. Heino Mandri (11 September 1922 – 3 December 1990) was an Estonian film and stage actor, designated People's Artist of the Estonian SSR (1986). Biography Heino Mandri was born in the independent Republic of Estonia. He studied acting at Tallinn State Conservatory (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) and graduated in 1946, when post-war Estonia was part of the Soviet Union. At that time Heino Mandri was accused of anti-Soviet activities and sentenced to imprisonment and hard labor in Gulag. Donatas Banionis (28 April 1924 – 4 September 2014) was a Soviet and Lithuanian stage and film actor and theatre director. He has more than 80 credited roles in cinema and is best known for his performance in the lead role of Tarkovsky's ''Solaris'' as Kris Kelvin. He was born in Kaunas, Lithuania. Banionis began his career with some films in Lithuanian, but he would later play mainly in Russian language films (although his voice was dubbed by Russian actors). Algimantas Masiulis (July 10, 1931 Surdegis, Anykščiai District Municipality — August 19, 2008, Kaunas, Lithuania) was a Lithuanian film and theatre actor. Biography Masiulis appeared in his first play in the autumn of 1948, in '' Schoolgirl'', where he played the role of a gym student. The play was directed by his teacher, Juozas Miltinis. Over the course of his career, Masiulis portrayed over 90 characters. Masiulis appeared in Lithuanian, Russian and Soviet productions. He performed at the Panevezys Drama Theatre for many years before joining the Kaunas State Drama Theatre in 1978. Masiulis also devoted more time to his drawings and art during the latter part of his life. Masiulis was awarded the 3rd Class Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas in 1998 for his work in cinema and theater. Alexander Borisovich Belyavsky (russian: Алекса́ндр Бори́сович Беля́вский, 6 May 1932 – 8 September 2012) was a Soviet/Russian actor who appeared in more than one hundred films.
