Ensemble Sortisatio
Ensemble Sortisatio is a quartet (viola, oboe/cor anglais, bassoon and guitar) founded by violist Matthias Sannemüller in 1992 in Leipzig, Germany. Its members are mostly soloists at the MDR Symphony Orchestra. They have specialized in contemporary classical music. Formation The Ensemble Sortisatio was founded in 1992 by Matthias Sannemüller in the city of Leipzig. Sannemüller was a pupil from Dietmar Hallmann and member of the Gruppe Neue Musik Hanns Eisler. The name comes from the Sortisatio concept and refers to the casual combination of the instruments in the ensemble. The idea came from the composer Reiner Bredemeyer. Members of the quartet are Walter Klingner (oboe and cor anglais), Axel Andrae (bassoon), Matthias Sannemüller (viola) and Thomas Blumenthal (guitar). Matthias Sannemüller
Matthias Sannemüller (born 2 September 1951) is a German violist. Life Born in Leipzig, Sannemüller was born in 1951 as son of the concertmaster Horst Sannemüller and the opera singer Philine Fischer. In his youth he learned piano and violin from Klaus Hertel. From 1966 he attended the . From 1969 to 1974 he studied violin with Dieter Hasch at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, Weimar and viola with Dietmar Hallmann at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig. Until 1975 he was aspirant at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig. Besides his studies he attended music seminars in Pécs, Brno and Weimar. Bassoon
The bassoon is a woodwind instrument in the double reed family, which plays in the tenor and bass ranges. It is composed of six pieces, and is usually made of wood. It is known for its distinctive tone color, wide range, versatility, and virtuosity. It is a non-transposing instrument and typically its music is written in the bass and tenor clefs, and sometimes in the treble. Marianne Schroeder (born 1949 in Reiden) is a Swiss pianist and composer. She studied with Giacinto Scelsi. She played at Carnegie Hall, Lucerne Festival and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. She worked with John Cage and Shigeru Kan-no. She is a member of the Groupe Lacroix and as such is specialized in contemporary classical music. Die Groupe Lacroix is a Swiss-Austrian composers ensemble. History The formation of Groupe Lacroix goes back to a joint master class visit of the founding members to the Russian avant-garde composer Edison Denisov as part of the Lucerne Festival at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Sommer 1993. Gerd Domhardt
Gerd Domhardt (19 February 1945 in Wolmirstedt – 18 February 1997 in Halle) was a German composer. Domhardt grew up in Schleusingerneundorf. He studied music education, German studies and musicology at the University of Halle-Wittenberg from 1963 to 1968. From 1973 to 1976 he was a master student for composition with Ruth Zechlin at the Academy of the Arts, Berlin. Until 1969 he worked at the Staatskapelle Halle under Olaf Koch. Helmut Oehring
Helmut Oehring (born 1961) is a German composer. He was born in East-Berlin, the son of deaf-mute parents. After training as a construction worker, Oehring worked as a cemetery gardener, forest worker, geriatric nurse and stoker. He is self-taught as guitarist and composer. From 1990 to 1992, Oehring studied with Friedrich Goldmann and Georg Katzer at the Academy of Arts, Berlin. He was a fellow of Villa Massimo in 1994/1995. Thomas Christoph Heyde (born 12 November 1973) is a German composer, media artist and curator. He is chairman of the Forum Zeitgenössischer Musik Leipzig. Life Heyde was born in Leipzig in 1973 as the son of a pastor. From the age of seven he was trained on the piano and later received private composition lessons from Lorenz Stolzenbach. Thomas Walter Buchholz (born 27 August 1961) is a German composer and music educator. Life Buchholz was born in 1961 in Eisenach as the son of the oratorio singer and vocal pedagogue Kurt Wichmann and the concert pianist and music teacher Jutta Buchholz ''née'' Gensty. His father was editor of the vocal school of Pier Francesco Tosi. Christian Münch (born 11 April 1951) is a German composer, organist, pianist and conductor. Life Münch was born in Freiberg in 1951 in a cantor's family. With his father he learned trumpet and organ. Since his childhood he received piano and clarinet lessons at the music school in Freiberg. From 1971 to 1976 he studied musical composition with Manfred Weiss and Wilfried Krätzschmar, conducting with Rudolf Neuhaus and piano with Günter Händel at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber.
