Enoch Thorsgard
Enoch Thorsgard (March 30, 1917 – December 16, 2015) was an American politician who was a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives. He was born on a farm near Northwood, North Dakota. He was the son of Arne Thorsgaard (1874-1948) and Clara (Markve) Thorsgaard (1888-1985). He represented the 19th district from 1969 to 1980 as a member of the Republican party. He was an alumnus of North Dakota Agriculture College and a farmer and cattle rancher near Northwood, North Dakota Northwood is a city in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, United States. Northwood is a city in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, United States. It is part of the " Grand Forks, ND- MN Metropolitan Statistical Area" or " Greater Grand Forks." The population was 982 at the 2020 census. History Northwood was founded in 1884. A tornado, rated EF4 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, struck Northwood on the evening of August 26, 2007 causing destruction to the entire town and killing one person. Later on some of the buildings were burned, collapsed, or torn down because of severe damage to the buildings from the tornado. Geography Northwood is located at (47.734727, -97.569027). The North Dakota House of Representatives is the lower house of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly and is larger than the North Dakota Senate. North Dakota is divided into between 40 and 54 legislative districts apportioned by population as determined by the decennial census. The 2000 redistricting plan provided for 47 districts. As each district elects two Representatives to the House, there are currently 94 representatives in the House. Representatives serve four-year terms. Elections are staggered such that half the districts have elections every two years. Originally, the North Dakota Constitution limited members of the North Dakota House of Representatives to two-year terms, with all representatives standing for reelection at the same time. North Dakota State University (NDSU, formally North Dakota State University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences) is a public land-grant research university in Fargo, North Dakota.
