Enniskillen railway station served Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. The Londonderry and Enniskillen Railway opened the first station in the town on 19 August 1854. The Dundalk and Enniskillen Railway opened a station slightly further south in Enniskillen on 15 February 1859; on 1 June 1860, the Londonderry and Enniskillen Railway moved so as to share the facilities at this station. Enniskillen
Enniskillen ( , from ga, Inis Ceithleann , ' Ceithlenn's island') is the largest town in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It is in the middle of the county, between the Upper and Lower sections of Lough Erne. It had a population of 13,823 at the 2011 Census. Enniskillen Castle was built in the 15th century as a stronghold of the Maguires, before coming under English control in the early 17th century. The castle and town were expanded during the Plantation of Ulster. It was the seat of local government for the former Fermanagh District Council, and is the county town of Fermanagh. The Londonderry and Enniskillen Railway (L&ER) was an Irish gauge () railway in Ireland. Construction and opening The Londonderry and Enniskillen Railway was incorporated in 1845. Development The company was founded as the Dundalk and Enniskillen Railway (D&ER) and opened the first section of its line, from to , in 1849.
