Enkenbach
Enkenbach-Alsenborn is a municipality in the district of Kaiserslautern, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated on the northern edge of the Palatinate forest, approx. 10 km north-east of Kaiserslautern. Enkenbach-Alsenborn is also the seat of the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' ("collective municipality"), also named Enkenbach-Alsenborn. Geography The municipality consists of the local villages of Enkenbach and Alsenborn. Before officially combining on 7 June 1969, the two villages worked very closely throughout their history to include a common coat of arms until 1795, a common mayor until 1825 and a common forest area until 1832. Neighbouring municipalities are - in a clockwise direction - Neuhemsbach, Sippersfeld, Kerzenheim, Ramsen (Pfalz), Wattenheim, Fischbach (Kaiserslautern district), Kaiserslautern and Mehlingen. Enkenbach Station
Enkenbach station is the only station in Enkenbach-Alsenborn in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It has two platforms tracks and is located in the network of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (Rhine-Neckar transport association, VRN) and belongs to fare zone 828. Its address is ''Bahnhofstraße 2''. It is located on the Alsenz Valley Railway (''Alsenztalbahn'', Hochspeyer– Bad Münster) and was put into service on 29 October 1870 with the opening of the section from Hochspeyer to Winnweiler. On 16 May of the following year it was opened over its whole length. In 1875, the station became the eastern end of the Kaiserslautern–Enkenbach railway, which formed a shorter route for trains from the Alsenz line to Kaiserslautern. In 1932, the Eis Valley Railway (''Eistalbahn'', Grünstadt– Eisenberg), which was opened in 1876, was extended through to Enkenbach. Alsenz Valley Railway
The Alsenz Valley Railway (german: Alsenztalbahn) is a line that runs from Hochspeyer via Winnweiler and Alsenz to Bad Munster am Stein in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The line closely follows the Alsenz river from the Enkenbach district and crosses it several times. It was originally built primarily as a long-distance route, but it has lost this function since 1990 and is now exclusively used for local transport. Route Between Enkenbach and Bad Münster the line has continuous double track; only the Enkenbach–Hochspeyer section is single track. From Enkenbach the line follows the Alsenz river to Alsenz. Due to the difficult topographical conditions, the line has to cross the Alsenz river several times and has three tunnels. It runs along the edge of the Palatinate Forest to about Langmeil, where it enters the North Palatine Uplands. Enkenbach-Alsenborn is a ''Verbandsgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") in the district of Kaiserslautern, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Its seat is located in Enkenbach-Alsenborn. Kaiserslautern (district)
Kaiserslautern is a district (''Kreis'') in the south of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise) Kusel, Saarpfalz-Kreis, Donnersbergkreis, Bad Dürkheim and Südwestpfalz. The city of Kaiserslautern is almost fully enclosed by, but not belonging to the district. History The district of Kaiserslautern was established in 1939. Minor changes of the borders occurred in 1969 and 1972. Geography The district includes parts of the Palatinate Forest (''Pfälzer Wald'') in the east and the North Palatine Hills (''Nordpfälzer Bergland'') in the west, as well as the lowlands between them. Wattenheim is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
