Enka (album)
''Enka'' (艶華 -Enka-) is the ''enka'' covers album by Japanese singer Akina Nakamori. It was released on 27 June 2007 under Universal Music Japan. It is Nakamori's fourth covers album. Background The album was released in three editions: a cassette tape with A and B side, a limited edition "A", and a limited edition "B". Edition A includes a DVD disc with film footage of "Enka" and music video clips from the years 2002–2007. Edition B includes bonus track in disc 1 with a cover by Teresa Teng and disc 2 includes instrumental versions of the songs arranged by Akira Senju. The track-list was decided by the results of the inquiry, which fans could vote for on Nakamori's official website. In 2014, some of the songs from ''Enka'' were included in the compilation album ''All Time Best: Utahime Cover''. Akina Nakamori
is a Japanese Singing, singer and Actor, actress. She is one of the most popular and best-selling artists in Japan. Akina achieved national recognition after winning the 1981 season of the talent show ''Star Tanjō!''. Her debut single "Slow Motion (Akina Nakamori song), Slow Motion" was released to moderate success, peaking at number thirty on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart. Nakamori's popularity increased with the release of her follow-up single, "Shōjo A", which peaked at number five on the Oricon charts and sold over 390,000 copies. Her second album ''Variation (Hensoukyoku), Variation'' became her first number-one on the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart, staying in that position for three weeks. Amagi-goe
"Amagi-goe" (天城越え Walk Over Amagi Pass) is the 45th single by Japanese singer Sayuri Ishikawa. The song is written by Osamu Yoshioka as lyricist, Tetsuya Gen ( 弦哲也) as composer and Nobuyuki Sakuraba ( 桜庭伸幸) as arranger. The single was released on July 21, 1986, by Nippon Columbia. The sleeve does not have the time of the song. Together with " Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyu-geshiki", the song is Ishikawa's most popular from her career. By the song, Ishikawa was nominated for the 28th Nippon Record Taisho Award ( Japan Record Award 日本レコード大賞) in 1986 but she did not win the award. As of 2020, Ishikawa has sung Amagi-goe twelve times at the annual NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen. There is a monument commemorating the song in front of the Jōren Falls in Amagi, Shizuoka Prefecture. Fuyumi Sakamoto
is a Japanese female enka singer under EMI Music Japan. Career Having won a singing contest in early 1986, and after receiving about 11 months of vocal training, Sakamoto debuted as an enka recording singer with the single "Abare Daiko" in March 1987, and was well received. In 1988, she took part in the 39th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen (New Year's Eve "song battle") for the first time. As of 2017, she has taken part 29 times, missing only the 53rd (2002) edition due to illness. This achievement placed Sakamoto on the 5th place (tied with another enka veteran Harumi Miyako) for the most Kōhaku appearances for a female artist. Sakamoto was also a vocalist of rock band HIS ( ja) with bassist and producer Haruomi Hosono and guitarist Kiyoshiro Imawano, though Imawano died in 2009. Naomi Chiaki
is a Japanese singer and actress who worked from the late 1960s to the early 1990s. Chiaki made her debut as a singer in 1969, and released her breakthrough single "Yottsu no Onegai" in the following year. "Kassai", a song which has been commonly considered her signature song was released in 1972 and gained success, and finally won the 14th Japan Record Award. Aki Yashiro
, real name Akiyo Masuda (増田明代 ''Masuda Akiyo'') (born Akiyo Hashimoto (橋本明代 ''Hashimoto Akiyo'') on August 29, 1950), is a Japanese enka singer and painter. Her stage name "Yashiro" is adopted from her hometown, "Yatsushiro" (八代). History Yashiro originally sang jazz standards in hostess clubs, but made her debut as an enka singer in 1971, with the single "Ai wa Shindemo (愛は死んでも)", under the label of Teichiku Records. Seeing the single's lack of success, she appeared on the YTV's Zen Nihon Kayō Senshuken ( 全日本歌謡選手権) audition, winning it for 10 consecutive weeks. Hibari Misora
was a Japanese singer, actress and cultural icon. She received a Medal of Honor for her contributions to music and for improving the welfare of the public, and was the first woman to receive the People's Honour Award, which was conferred posthumously for giving the public hope and encouragement after World War II. Misora recorded a total of 1,200 songs and sold 68 million records. After she died, consumer demand for her recordings grew significantly, and, by 2001, she had sold more than 80 million records. is a Japanese idol, enka singer, and actress. Biography In 1973, she was part of "a hit female trio", which also included musicians Momoe Yamaguchi and Junko Sakurada. The music trio became popular as part of the television program Producing the Stars (Star Tanjō!); they were known as "The Trio of Third-Year Junior High School Students" ("Hana no Chu 3 Trio").
