Enjoy Incubus
''Enjoy Incubus'' is the major label debut EP by Incubus released on January 7, 1997, on Epic Records. It contained re-recordings of songs that featured on their previous, independent releases '' Let Me Tell Ya 'Bout Root Beer'' and '' Fungus Amongus'', as well the previously unreleased song "Version" and an untitled hidden track at the end of '"Hilikus". It was the first appearance on a release by DJ Lyfe, who added turntable scratches to the ''Fungus Amongus'' songs, and also supplied saxophone samples. This release was also noted for its introduction of 'Chuck', the mysterious mustachioed man who has become an icon for Incubus's early work. It is also the only Incubus release to feature a Parental Advisory label, despite many of their other albums also containing profanity. Incubus is an American Rock music, rock band from Calabasas, California. The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer José Pasillas while enrolled in Calabasas High School and later expanded to include bassist Alex Katunich, Alex "Dirk Lance" Katunich, and Gavin Koppell, Gavin "DJ Lyfe" Koppell; both of whom were replaced by bassist Ben Kenney and Chris Kilmore, DJ Kilmore, respectively. Incubus has attained commercial success, reaching multi-platinum sales, as well as releasing several successful singles (music), singles. Korn (stylized as KoЯn, or occasionally KoRn) is an American nu metal band from Bakersfield, California, formed in 1993. The band is notable for pioneering the nu metal genre and bringing it into the mainstream. An incubus is a demon in male form in folklore that seeks to have sexual intercourse with sleeping women; the corresponding spirit in female form is called a succubus. In medieval Europe, union with an incubus was supposed by some to result in the birth of witches, demons, and deformed human offspring. Legendary magician Merlin was said to have been fathered by an incubus. Parallels exist in many cultures. José Pasillas
José Antonio Pasillas II (born April 26, 1976) is an American musician best known as the drummer and co-founder of alternative rock band Incubus. Biography José Pasillas is of Mexican descent. He grew up in Calabasas, California. He began playing drums in 1990. Later in 1991, José and friends Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger, and Alex Katunich (aka Dirk Lance; replaced by Ben Kenney in 2003) began Incubus in high school in the San Fernando Valley outpost of Calabasas. He endorses DW drums and Sabian cymbals. José has mentioned he has never had any formal training for the drums, which he says has positives and negatives. Some of his influences include Chad Sexton of 311, Stewart Copeland of The Police, and Tim Alexander of Primus. Before dedicating himself full-time to Incubus, he was a full-time art student (as was Brandon), and he continues to create designs in his free time. Dirk Lance
George Alex Katunich (born August 18, 1976) is an American musician. He is best known as the former bassist of Incubus. Since high school, Katunich has used the stage name of Dirk Lance, which was apparently taken from the credits of a pornographic film from the 1970s. A founding member of Incubus, he departed the band in 2003. Career Incubus Katunich was a member of Incubus from 1991 to 2003, playing bass guitar on the albums '' Fungus Amongus'', '' Enjoy Incubus'', '' S.C.I.E.N.C.E.'', '' Make Yourself'', and '' Morning View''. Gavin Koppel, better known by his stage name DJ Lyfe, is an American musician, record producer, and artist, best known as the former turntablist and co-songwriter of the band Incubus between the years of 1995 and 1998. He is also a graffiti artist. Career Koppel got his start in music in 1987. He met the band Incubus, at that time consisting of vocalist Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einziger, drummer José Pasillas, and bassist Alex Katunich in 1994 at the S.I.R. Theater. Michael Aaron Einziger (born June 21, 1976) is an American musician, songwriter and producer. He is best known for being co-founder and guitarist of the rock band Incubus, and has also co-written, produced and collaborated with a wide array of artists including Pharrell Williams, Hans Zimmer, Skrillex, Tyler the Creator, Avicii, Damian Marley, Jason Schwartzman (Coconut Records) and Steve Martin among many others. Incubus has sold over 23 Million albums worldwide, and in 2013, Einziger co-wrote the hit song " Wake Me Up", alongside Avicii and Aloe Blacc. Brandon Charles Boyd (born February 15, 1976) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, author and visual artist. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the American rock band Incubus, with whom he has recorded eight studio albums. In addition to his work with Incubus, Boyd has released two solo albums - '' The Wild Trapeze'' (2010) and ''Echoes & Cocoons'' (2022) - and has collaborated with producer Brenden O'Brien under the name Sons of the Sea. Backmasking
Backmasking is a recording technique in which a message is recorded backward onto a track that is meant to be played forward. It is a deliberate process, whereas a message found through phonetic reversal may be unintentional. Artists have since used backmasking for artistic, comedic and satiric effect, on both analogue and digital recordings. It has also been used to censor words or phrases for "clean" releases of explicit songs. Take Me To Your Leader (Incubus Song)
"Take Me to Your Leader" is the debut single by rock band Incubus, released in 1996. It is a re-recorded version of the original version from their 1995 debut album ''Fungus Amongus''. The song was later re-recorded again for their 1997 EP ''Enjoy Incubus''. Music video An official music video was made for the song, the band's first music video at that point. The video pays homage to the film ''The Gods Must Be Crazy'' and shows the band wandering through Los Angeles dressed as cavemen intercut with footage of the band performing live. The video can be found on the band's DVD ''When Incubus Attacks Volume 2''. Live performance The song was a staple in the band's setlist early on, however, along with other funk-based ''Fungus Amongus'' songs, it soon vanished from the band's setlist by the end of the 90s.
