The England cricket team toured the West Indies in January to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The England team also returned to the Caribbean in March to play three Test matches. The Test series was the first time that the teams played for the Richards–Botham Trophy. The Test series formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. In October 2021, the schedule for the tour was confirmed, with the T20I matches taking place in January 2022, and the Test matches taking place in March 2022. Despite England losing The Ashes 4–0 in January 2022, Joe Root remained as England's Test captain. Prior to the third T20I, England's captain Eoin Morgan ruled himself out of the match after feeling pain in his right quad during the warm-up session. Kraigg Brathwaite
Kraigg Clairmonte Brathwaite (born 1 December 1992) is a Barbadian cricketer who captains the West Indies in Test cricket. He bats right-handed and occasionally bowls right arm off break. On 6 November 2011, he became only the second West Indian to score two Test fifties before his 19th birthday when he made 63 (212) against India in Delhi. 2021–22 Ashes Series
The 2021–22 Ashes series, named the Vodafone Men's Ashes Series for sponsorship reasons, was a series of five Test cricket matches that were contested between England and Australia for The Ashes. The series was played at five venues across Australia from 8 December 2021 and was scheduled to finish on 18 January 2022. Australia were the defending holders of the Ashes going into the series, having won in 2017–18 with the 2019 Ashes series ending in a draw. Veerasammy Permaul (born 11 August 1989) is a Guyanese professional cricketer. He's featured as a left arm orthodox spinner for both Guyana and the West Indies cricket team. Kyle Rico Mayers (born 8 September 1992) is a Barbadian cricketer. He plays international cricket for West Indies cricket team in all formats. He was also in the West Indies under-19 squad for the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In February 2021, on his Test debut, Mayers scored 210 not out. Alzarri Shaheim Joseph (born 20 November 1996) is an Antiguan cricketer who plays for the West Indies in Tests and ODIs.
