George Engleheart
George Engleheart (1750–1829) was one of the greatest England, English painters of portrait miniatures, and a contemporary of Richard Cosway, John Smart, William Wood, and Richard Crosse (painter), Richard Crosse. Family and home Engleheart is generally thought to have been born in Kew, Surrey, on 26 October 1750. His father was Francis Englehart (died 1773), a German plaster modeller who emigrated to England as a child; his mother was Anne Dawney. He had seven brothers. The family name was changed to Engleheart after his father died. He married his first wife, Elizabeth Brown, in 1776; and the couple set up house in Prince's Street, Hanover Square, London, Hanover Square, London. Elizabeth died in April 1779, aged only 26. Engleheart moved to 4 Hertford Street in Mayfair, London. He married his second wife, Ursula Sarah Browne in 1785; and the couple had four children: George, Nathaniel, Harry and Emma. Francis Engleheart
Francis Engleheart (1775–1849) was an English engraver. Life Engleheart, born in London in 1775, was nephew of George Engleheart, and grandson of Francis Engleheart of Kew. He served as apprentice to Joseph Collyer the younger, and subsequently became assistant to James Heath. His first published engravings were some plates after the designs of Thomas Stothard, R.A., and he also engraved a large portion of ''The Canterbury Pilgrims'', which was completed and published by Heath. He became better known to the public by his engravings from the pictures and drawings of Richard Cook, R.A., and some of these were considered among the finest specimens of book illustrations then produced in England. He subsequently engraved the portraits in a collection of the works of the English poets, and was engaged by Cadell & Davies to engrave the designs of Robert Smirke R.A., for works published by them. John Cox Dillman Engleheart
John Cox Dillman Engleheart (1784–1862) was an English miniature painter. Life Engleheart was the nephew of the miniature painter George Engleheart. He entered his uncle's studio at the age of fourteen. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1801, and went on to show a total of 157 works. He was a man of substantial means, and in his time a very popular painter, but his health broke down when he was 44 years old, and he had to relinquish the pursuit of his profession. Henry William Engleheart VC (14 November 1863 – 9 August 1939) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
