The England national women's netball team, also known as the ''Vitality Roses'', represent England in international netball competition. England are coached by Jess Thirlby, and are currently captained by Natalie Metcalf. As of 1 July 2020, the team is ranked third in the INF World Rankings. England have won one silver and several bronze medals at the World Cup and have won one gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. History The England national netball team was established in 1963, ahead of the inaugural Netball World Championships held in Eastbourne that year. England have appeared at every World Championships (since renamed as the World Cup) and most recently the team competed at the 2019 Netball World Cup, finishing third. England Netball, formerly the "All England Netball Association", is the national body which oversees, promotes and manages netball in England. 2019 Netball World Cup
The 2019 Netball World Cup (also known as the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 15th edition of the INF Netball World Cup. It was held from 12–21 July 2019 at the Liverpool Arena in Liverpool, England with matches being held on two courts. Host nation England finished their campaign with a bronze medal. New Zealand became 5th time champions after beating Australia in the final and gold medal match. Sixteen nations contested for the title, which included the top six of the previous tournament which was held in Sydney, Australia. After two group stage rounds, Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa all made it to the semi-finals. In a rematch of the 2015 final, New Zealand would take home their fifth title after defeating Australia by one goal. England finished in third place, after defeating South Africa. Eleanor Cardwell
Eleanor 'Ellie' Cardwell is an English international netball player. She plays in goal attack and goal shooter for England, and at the club level represents Manchester Thunder in the Netball Superleague. Cardwell was born in Blackpool, joininBlackpool Netball Clubat the age of 10. Imogen Allison
Imogen Allison (born 24 April 1998) is an English netball player, who has represented the national side since 2020. At club level, she is the captain of Team Bath and has previously played for Yorkshire Jets. Club career Allison plays as a wing defence. She played for Yorkshire Jets in the 2016 Netball Superleague season. She joined Team Bath ahead of the 2017 season. She re-signed for Bath for the 2018 season. During the 2019 season, Allison was Bath's captain when regular captains Eboni Usoro-Brown and Serena Guthrie were away on international duty. Laura Malcolm
Laura Malcolm (born 20 May 1991) is an English netball player who has been a co-captain of the national team. At club level, she is scheduled to play for Mainland Tactix during the 2023 ANZ Premiership season. She has previously played for Netball Superleague teams Manchester Thunder and Severn Stars. Club career Malcolm has played for Manchester Thunder and Severn Stars. She won the 2014 Netball Superleague with Manchester Thunder. Serena Guthrie
Serena Monique Guthrie (born 5 January 1990) is a former netball player from Jersey who played internationally for England. She played in the Centre, Wing Attack and Wing Defence positions. She was a dynamic player, known for her speed and athleticism, with a keen eye for the intercept. She made the squad in 2008, debuting soon after when she was just 17 years old, and has so far earned over 50 caps for her country. In domestic netball, she played for Team Bath until 2015, when she signed with the Northern Mystics in New Zealand, having previously trained with the team in 2012. In 2017 Guthrie began playing for Giants Netball in the Australian Suncorp Super Netball league. In her time at the Giants, Guthrie was a formidable player, winning the club MVP award for the 2017 season and becoming one of the league's premier mid-courters. Netball Superleague
The Netball Super League is a top level netball league featuring teams from the United Kingdom. The league is organised by England Netball but features teams based in England, Wales and Scotland. The league was commenced playing at the 2005–06 season, replacing the Super Cup as the elite netball competition in England. Since 2016 the league has been sponsored by VitalityHealth and, as a result, it is also known as the Vitality Netball Superleague. Historically the league's most successful teams are Team Bath, who have won five titles, and the Mavericks, who have played in seven grand finals. Team Bath (netball)
Team Bath is an English netball team based at the University of Bath. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were both founder members and the inaugural champions of the league. They were Superleague champions again in 2006–07, 2008–09, 2009–10 and 2013, and British Fast5 All-Stars Champions in 2021. Tracey Anne Neville (born 21 January 1977) is a former England netball international and a former England head coach. As a player, she was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and the 1999 World Netball Championships. Jamaica National Netball Team
The Jamaica national netball team, commonly known as the Sunshine Girls, represent Jamaica in international netball competitions. Netball is not only the number one women's sport in Jamaica but also the number one team sport in the island, based on World Rankings and recent history and the majority of the schools in Jamaica participate. Netball receives full media coverage on television, radio and in newspapers but does not get as much coverage as less successful team sports such as football and cricket.
