Enfield Croquet Club
Following a croquet course run by Enfield London Borough Council, those completing the course were offered the chance to form a club,The Croquet Gazette, Issue 335, December 2011. and in 1991 Enfield Croquet Club was established in Bush Hill Park recreation ground, between Lincoln Road and Southbury Road, in the London Borough of Enfield. At first only association croquet was played, but later in 2005 golf croquet was introduced. The club currently has three full size lawns and its members compete in various inter-club association and golf croquet competitions around the south east of England. Croquet ( or ; french: croquet) is a sport that involves hitting wooden or plastic balls with a mallet through hoops (often called "wickets" in the United States) embedded in a grass playing court. Enfield London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Enfield in Greater London, England. It is one of 32 London borough councils in the United Kingdom capital of London. The Croquet Association, which was formed as the United All England Croquet Association in 1897, is the national governing body for the sport of croquet in England. Until 1974 the association was responsible for croquet in the whole of the United Kingdom. The Scottish Croquet Association, formed in 1974, now has responsibility for croquet in Scotland.
