Energy Technology Perspectives
''Energy Technology Perspectives'' (ETP) is a publication on energy technology published by the International Energy Agency’s (IEA). It demonstrates how technologies can help achieve the objective of limiting the global temperature rise to 2°C and enhancing energy security. G8 leaders invited the International Energy Agency to contribute to the Gleneagles G8 Plan of Action on Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainable Development in 2005. They asked the IEA to advise on alternative scenarios and strategies for a "clean, clever, competitive energy future". International Energy Agency
The International Energy Agency (IEA) is a Paris-based autonomous intergovernmental organisation, established in 1974, that provides policy recommendations, analysis and data on the entire global energy sector, with a recent focus on curbing carbon emissions and reaching global climate targets, including the Paris Agreement. The 31 member countries and 11 association countries of the IEA represent 75% of global energy demand. The IEA was set up under the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in the aftermath of the 1973 oil crisis to respond to physical disruptions in global oil supplies, provide data and statistics about the global oil market and energy sector, promote energy savings and conservation, and establish international technical collaboration on innovation and research. 31st G8 Summit
The 31st G8 summit was held on 6–8 July 2005 at the Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder, Scotland and hosted by Prime Minister Tony Blair. The locations of previous G8 summits to have been hosted by the UK include: London (1977, 1984, 1991); and Birmingham (1998). It is the first G8 summit to be held in Scotland. A sixth UK summit was held in Lough Erne in 2013; and a seventh UK summit was held in Carbis Bay in 2021.
