''EndSerenading'' is the second studio album by Mineral, released on August 25, 1998, after the band had broken up. The album was noted for its overall softer and quieter sound in comparison to the band's former album, ''The Power of Failing'', which featured much louder and more energetic pieces. Tensions rose among the band during recording, and after recording was completed, the band split up. Simpson and Gomez formed The Gloria Record, while McCarver and Wiley formed Imbroco. In 2017, Mineral accused rapper Gab3 and Lil Peep Gustav Elijah Åhr (November 1, 1996 – November 15, 2017), known professionally as Lil Peep, was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. ''The Power of Failing'' is the debut studio album from the Austin, Texas-based emo band Mineral. Released on January 28, 1997, ''The Power of Failing'' was made available on both LP and CD format and has since been acclaimed as an essential album from the 90s emo movement. Reception ''The Power of Failing'' received extreme praise for its songwriting and honest lyrics. Writing for Allmusic, Blake Butler declared the record to be "a keystone album from one of the most well-known and revered emo rock bands of the '90s", stating that "although the structure is relatively simple most of the time, it is the essence of the music which overwhelms." Brandon Stosuy of Pitchfork said that "Part of what makes ''The Power of Failing'' a classic is that its raw feel and execution matches its emotions." Mineral (band)
Mineral is an American emo band originally from Houston, Texas. Soon after their formation, they relocated to Austin, Texas, Austin. All four members of Mineral were signed to Interscope Records on individual contracts. After disbanding in 1998, its members worked on other musical projects, including The Gloria Record, Pop Unknown, and Zookeeper. In 2010, a compilation CD of all the band's songs (except for "Sadder Star") was released in Japan, entitled ''TheCompleteCollection''. Mineral announced a reunion tour on April 24, 2014. In 2019, the band celebrated their 25th anniversary with two new songs titled "Aurora" and "Your Body Is The World", a retrospective book, and by going on tour. On Saturday, September 25 the band performed a set at Furnace Fest, Furnace Fest 2021 in Birmingham, Alabama. Midwest Emo
Midwest emo (or Midwestern emo) refers to the emo scene and/or subgenre that developed in 1990s Midwestern United States. Employing unconventional vocal stylings, distinct guitar riffs and arpeggiated melodies, Midwest emo bands shifted away from the genre's hardcore punk roots and drew on indie rock and math rock approaches. According to the author and critic Andy Greenwald, "this was the period when emo earned many, if not all, of the stereotypes that have lasted to this day: boy-driven, glasses-wearing, overly sensitive, overly brainy, chiming-guitar-driven college music."Greenwald, pp. 34–35. The Gloria Record
The Gloria Record was an American rock band from Austin, Texas, a side-project of former Mineral vocalist Chris Simpson and bassist Jeremy Gomez. The group was formed it in 1997, together with guitarist Brian Hubbard and drummer Matt Hammon. They released two EPs through Crank! A Record Company, a self-titled EP (1999) and ''A Lull in Traffic'' (2000), before issuing their debut album ''Start Here'' through Arena Rock Recording Company in 2002. While working on its follow-up, the group disbanded in May 2004. History After disbanding Mineral in 1997, frontman Chris Simpson and bassist Jeremy Gomez formed a new band. Gustav Elijah Åhr (November 1, 1996 – November 15, 2017), known professionally as Lil Peep, was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He was a member of the emo rap collective GothBoiClique. Helping pioneer an emo revival-style of Rapping, rap and Rock music, rock music, Lil Peep has been credited as a leading figure of the mid–late 2010s emo rap scene and came to be an inspiration to outcasts and youth subcultures.
