Emån
Emån is a river in southern Sweden, rising just north of Bodafors in the highlands of Småland and running approximately 229 kilometers to the Baltic Sea just south of Oskarshamn. Emån is popular among canoeists, as it is easily navigated and provides opportunities to experience Swedish flora and fauna up close. Emån is the home to more than 30 species of fish and is prized among anglers for its very large seatrout. Högsby is a locality and the seat of Högsby Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden with 1,881 inhabitants in 2010. Mönsterås Municipality
Mönsterås Municipality (''Mönsterås kommun'') is a municipality in Kalmar County, south-eastern Sweden, with its seat located in the town Mönsterås. Mönsterås was an original market town ''köping'', which in 1952 was united with the rural municipality by the same name. By the local government reform of 1971 it became a municipality of unitary type and amalgamated with ''Fliseryd'' and ''Ålem'' in 1974. Oskarshamn is a coastal city and the seat of Oskarshamn Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden with 17,258 inhabitants in 2010. History Etymology Döderhultsvik was the original name before a town charter was granted in 1856. The name was then changed to Oscarshamn (meaning: Oscar's port) after the king Oscar I of Sweden. The spelling has later changed to Oskarshamn. Struggle for town charter The location of Oskarshamn was known as Döderhultsvik since the Medieval age. Målilla () is a locality in Hultsfred Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden with 1,524 inhabitants in 2010. It is more commonly known as the temperature capital of Sweden due to records, both high and low, being set there. A Swedish record high temperature of +38 °C (100.4 °F) was set on June 29, 1947. This record is shared with Ultuna in Uppland. The lowest temperature recorded is −33.8 °C, one of the lowest ever recorded in southern Sweden.
