Empyre
"Empyre" is a 2020 comic book storyline published by Marvel Comics. This storyline follows the events of ''Incoming!''. It was published in July of 2020. Premise The Avengers, the Fantastic Four and various other heroes of the Marvel universe come together to fight and prevent the incoming invasion of the Kree/Skrull armada being led by Hulkling who has been crowned as "Dorrek VIII". Editorial history The first comic of the story arc, ''Road to Empyre: The Kree–Skrull War,'' was announced in December 2019. It was to be published in March 2020 and included references to older Marvel stories, '' Kree–Skrull War'' and ''The Celestial Madonna'' from the 1970s, and the 2019 comic ''Meet the Skrulls''. Wiccan (comics)
Wiccan (William "Billy" Kaplan-Altman) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character has been depicted as a member of the Young Avengers, a team of teenage superheroes, as well as the Champions. Created by writer Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung, the character first appeared in ''Young Avengers'' #1 (April 2005). Emperor Hulkling (Dorrek VIII, also known as Theodore Rufus "Teddy" Kaplan-Altman) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Kree, briefly known as the Ruul, are a fictional scientifically and technologically advanced militaristic alien race appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are native to the planet Hala in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The "Kree–Skrull War" is a story arc that was written by Roy Thomas, and drawn by Sal Buscema, Neal Adams, and John Buscema. The story was originally published in the Marvel Comics comic book title '' Avengers'' #89–97 (June 1971 – March 1972). The "Kree–Skrull War" is notable for its cosmic scope of interstellar warfare, enormous cast of characters, use of metaphor and allegory (for instance, to Joseph McCarthy and HUAC and the Arab–Israeli War), and the introduction of the Vision– Scarlet Witch romance, which became an ongoing theme for the characters (and the Avengers) for years to come.
