Empress Zhen () (died October 7, 951?''History of Liao'', vol. 5. Academia Sinicabr>Chinese-Western Calendar Converter) was an empress of the Khitan-led Liao dynasty of China. She was one of the two empresses of Emperor Shizong (Yelü Ruan). Background It is not known where or when the future Empress Zhen was born. She was said to be a lady in the Later Tang palace, but it is not clear whether she was a concubine of one of Later Tang's emperors or a lady in waiting. She was described to be beautiful. The ''History of Liao'', or ''Liao Shi'' (''Liáo Shǐ''), is a Chinese historical book compiled officially by the Mongol-led Yuan dynasty (1271–1368), under the direction of the historian Toqto'a (Tuotuo), and finalized in 1344.Xu Elina-Qian, p.22 Based on Khitan's primary sources and other previous official Chinese records, it details the Khitan people, Khitan's tribal life and traditions, as well as the official histories of the Liao dynasty and its successor, the Western Liao dynasty. Yelü Zhimo
Yelü Zhimo (; ? — 983), also known by his title the King of Ning (宁王), was an imperial prince of the Liao dynasty. He was granted as the King of Ning during the reign of Emperor Muzong of Liao. He was the third son of Emperor Shizong by Empress Zhen. His mother was the only Han Empress Consort in Liao's history. He was half younger brother of Emperor Jingzong. Zhimo has an affair with one of Yelü Jing's maid and after it was discovered by Jing own, he lost one of his eye to protect his lover and then become half blind, also sentenced to imperial punishment and became an eunuch. After his wife death, he started live alone in his Mansion and became a Buddhist monk.
