The Empire Legend Award (also known as the Legend of Our Lifetime Award) is an honorary Empire Award presented by the British film magazine ''Empire''. The Empire Legend Award was first introduced at the 17th Empire Awards in 2012 with Tim Burton receiving the award. Ralph Fiennes is the most recent winner in this category. At the most recent awards ceremony three honorary awards were presented: Empire Hero Award, Empire Inspiration Award and Empire Legend Award. Empire Awards
The Empire Awards was an annual British awards ceremony honouring cinematic achievements in the local and global film industry. Winners were awarded the Empire Award statuette. The awards, first presented in 1996, were presented by the British film magazine ''Empire'' with the winners voted by the readers of the magazine. The 23rd Empire Awards was the final ceremony, honouring films in 2017, was held on 18 March 2018 in London, England. The awards were sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey from the 14th Empire Awards and were thenceforth officially called the Jameson Empire Awards. The official sponsor of the Awards changed to Rakuten TV for the 23rd Empire Awards. The Empire Awards ceremonies were discontinued after 2018. Empire (magazine)
''Empire'' is a British film magazine published monthly by Bauer Consumer Media. The first issue was published in May 1989. History David Hepworth of Emap, the publisher of British music magazines '' Q'' and ''Smash Hits'', among other titles, came up with the idea to publish a magazine similar to ''Q'', but for films. They recruited ''Smash Hits'' editor Barry McIlheney to edit the new magazine, with Hepworth as Editorial Director. Hepworth produced a one-page document of what he wanted to achieve. Among them, they planned to review and rate every film that was released in the cinema in the United Kingdom. It also said that "''Empire'' believes that movies can sometimes be art, but they should always be fun." The first edition (June/July 1989) was published in May 1989 with Dennis Quaid and Winona Ryder on the front cover from the film '' Great Balls of Fire!''. Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman (21 February 1946 – 14 January 2016) was an English actor and director.
