''Emperor of Sand'' is the seventh studio album by American heavy metal band Mastodon. It was released on March 31, 2017 through record label Reprise Records. The album's first single, " Show Yourself", peaked at number 4 on the US '' Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Songs chart in 2017. The second single, " Steambreather", peaked at number 18 on the same chart. Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia. Formed in 2000, the band's lineup of Troy Sanders (bass/vocals), Brent Hinds (lead guitar/vocals), Bill Kelliher (rhythm guitar/backing vocals) and Brann Dailor (drums/vocals) has remained the same since 2001. Brann Dailor
Brann Timothy Dailor (born March 19, 1975) is an American musician, best known as a member of heavy metal band Mastodon, in which he is the drummer and one of three vocalists. Career Dailor first started playing in a band called Evisceration from 1991 to 1993, when the band broke up. Dailor was also a founding member of mathcore band Lethargy, and the progressive rock/funk metal band Gaylord and played with Today Is the Day. In 2015, Dailor announced his side project called Arcadea. The group features Dailor on drums alongside Atlanta musicians Core Atoms and Raheem Amlani. Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Brent Hinds portrayed "wildlings" on S05E08 episode of ''Game of Thrones'', which was filmed in Belfast in Northern Ireland. Eagles of Death Metal is an American rock band from Palm Desert, California, formed in 1998. Troy Jayson Sanders (born September 8, 1973) is an American musician, best known as a member of heavy metal band Mastodon, in which he plays bass and sings alongside guitarist Brent Hinds and drummer Brann Dailor. He is also active in Killer Be Killed and Gone Is Gone, as well as being the current touring bassist for Thin Lizzy. ''Leviathan'' is the second album by American heavy metal band Mastodon, released in 2004 on Relapse Records. It is Mastodon's first concept album, loosely based on the 1851 novel ''Moby-Dick'' by Herman Melville. The songs "Iron Tusk", "Blood and Thunder", "I Am Ahab" and "Seabeast" were released as singles. Three magazines awarded the album ''Album of the Year'' in 2004: ''Revolver'', ''Kerrang!'' and ''Terrorizer''. In 2009 and 2015 MetalSucks named ''Leviathan'' the best metal album of the 21st century. ''Leviathan'' was also released with an audio DVD of DVD-Video format in a limited edition set with a black and gold slipcase.
