Emma Samuelsson
Emma Katinka Renée Samuelsson (born 17 October 1988) is a Swedish épée fencer, silver medallist in the 2007 European Championships. Career Coached by Ukrainian master Sergey Paramonov, she won a bronze medal in the 2006 Junior World Championships in Taebaek, followed by a gold medal in the 2007 edition in Belek. That same year, she took part in her first European Championships. She reached the final after defeating Russia's Tatiana Logunova and Estonia's Irina Embrich, but was overcome in the final by France's Laura Flessel. A scholarship from Swedish newspaper ''Svenska Dagbladet'' allowed her to train harder. She received a wildcard for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, but lost in the quarter-finals to Germany's Britta Heidemann, who eventually became Olympic champion. In the 2009–10 season she climbed her first World Cup podium with a second place in Barcelona, followed by another silver medal in Luxembourg. The 2008 Summer Olympics (), officially the Games of the XXIX Olympiad () and also known as Beijing 2008 (), were an international multisport event held from 8 to 24 August 2008, in Beijing, China. Rossella Fiamingo (born 14 July 1991) is an Italian left-handed épée fencer and two-time individual world champion. A three-time Olympian, Fiamingo is a 2021 team Olympic bronze medalist and 2016 individual Olympic silver medalist. She is engaged to the swimmer Olympic gold medal Gregorio Paltrinieri. Career Fiamingo did ballet and rhythmic gymnastics as a child. She took up fencing when she was seven at the instigation of her father, who already drove her brother to a nearby fencing school, AS Methodos Catania. She was taught by Gianni Sperlinga, who remains her personal coach as of today. In 2004, she was selected into the cadet Italian national team. She won the 2007 Cadet European Championships in Novi Sad, then the 2008 Cadet World Championships at home, in Acireale. Laura Flessel-Colovic
Laura Flessel-Colovic (born 6 November 1971) is a French politician and épée fencer who served as Minister of Sports from 2017 to 2018. Born in Pointe-à -Pitre, Guadeloupe, she has won the most Olympic medals of any French sportswoman, with five. Before 2007, she was a member of the Levallois Sporting Club Escrime, and now works with Lagardère Paris Racing. She is married and has one daughter. She was France's flag-bearer at the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in London, which was her fifth and last Olympics. She was appointed Minister of Sports in the Philippe Government on 17 May 2017 and resigned on 4 September 2018.
