Emma Farrell (freediver)
Emma Farrell (born 1973) is a British freediving instructor, and the author of the book ''One breath: A Reflection on Freediving''. She started freediving in 2001 and has been teaching since 2002. She was head of instruction at the UK's DeeperBlue freediving club from 2004 until her resignation in 2009; she now runs her own freediving training company, GoFreediving, which teaches the SSI freediving programme. In 2007, she was stated to be one of only ten freediving instructor trainers in the world. Emma has explained that control over one's own mind and self-relaxation are key to free diving. She has dived on the BBC2 television series ''Britain’s Secret Seas'', and taught Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall to freedive for UK Channel 4's ''River Cottage''. Freediving
Freediving, free-diving, free diving, breath-hold diving, or skin diving is a form of underwater diving that relies on breath-holding until resurfacing rather than the use of breathing apparatus such as scuba gear. Besides the limits of breath-hold, immersion in water and exposure to high ambient pressure also have physiological effects that limit the depths and duration possible in freediving. Examples of freediving activities are traditional fishing techniques, competitive and non-competitive freediving, competitive and non-competitive spearfishing and freediving photography, synchronised swimming, underwater football, underwater rugby, underwater hockey, underwater target shooting and snorkeling. Michael Paul Rock (born 13 March 1987) is a British butterfly stroke swimmer. He attended St. Edward's College, Liverpool, from 1998 to 2003. As of 2008 he is a student at The University of Manchester, and is studying law. Hannah Russell
Hannah Russell, (born 5 August 1996) is a British Paralympic swimmer competing in S12 classification events. In 2012, she became British S12 champion in the 100m backstroke and qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games where she won a silver in the 400m freestyle and a bronze in the 100m butterfly. In the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games, she won the gold medal in the 100m backstroke with the time of 1:06:06 earning her the World Record. Alice Tai
Alice Tai, (born 31 January 1999) is a British paralympic swimmer. Tai competes in the SB8, SM8 and S8. She has represented Great Britain at European and World Championships and at the Commonwealth and Paralympic Games, gold medals at all levels. Personal history Tai was born in Poole, England in 1999 and grew up in New Milton. Her parents are Steve, an IT specialist, and Angela, a teacher. She has a brother called Christian. Tai was born with bilateral talipes (clubfoot), and before the age of 12 she had undergone 14 corrective operations to alleviate her condition, sometimes requiring a wheelchair for long periods of time during recovery. James Goddard
James Francis Goddard (born 30 March 1983) is a Seychelles-born British competitive swimmer and backstroker who represented Great Britain in the Olympics, FINA world championships and European championships, and swam for England in the Commonwealth Games. David Robert Carry (born 8 October 1981) is a Scottish former competition swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics, FINA world championships and the European championships, and Scotland in the Commonwealth Games. He competed internationally in freestyle and medley swimming events. He is the winner of seven medals in major international championships. He is of Scottish- Faroese ancestry.
