United Arab Emirates Rugby League (or UAERL) was the governing body for rugby league in the United Arab Emirates. It operated under the auspices of the Rugby League European Federation’s Euro Med Department, the UAERL governed rugby league at all levels in the UAE, from the national team to the development of school and youth programs. The European Rugby League (ERL) is the umbrella body for nations playing the sport of rugby league football across Europe. The United Arab Emirates Rugby League team (nicknamed The Falcons) represented the United Arab Emirates in the sport of rugby league football. The seeds of rugby league in Lebanon lie in Australia. A group of Australian-born rugby league players with Lebanese heritage, mostly from inner-city Sydney formed a team with a view to entering the 2000 Rugby League World Cup. UAE National Rugby Union Team
The United Arab Emirates national rugby union team competes in the annual Asia Rugby competitions. They were once part of the Arabian Gulf team which consisted of players from the Gulf Cooperation Countries on the Arabian Peninsula.
