Emily Braun
Emily Braun (born 1957) is a Canadian-born art historian, curator and Distinguished Professor of Art History at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Braun is a specialist in the history of modern European art and is known for her contributions to the study of Italian modernism and Cubism. In addition to her academic work, Braun serves as the Curator of the Leonard A. Lauder Collection of Cubist Art. Biography Braun received her Ph.D. in art history from The Institute of Fine Arts, NYU in 1991. Her academic work examines the interaction between political ideologies and visual representation in Europe, theories of viewer reception, the ideas of gender and otherness in art criticism, history of exhibitions and history of collecting, as well as the relationship between Cubism and popular culture. Brackets
A bracket is either of two tall fore- or back-facing punctuation marks commonly used to isolate a segment of text or data from its surroundings. Typically deployed in symmetric pairs, an individual bracket may be identified as a 'left' or 'right' bracket or, alternatively, an "opening bracket" or "closing bracket", respectively, depending on the Writing system#Directionality, directionality of the context. Specific forms of the mark include parentheses (also called "rounded brackets"), square brackets, curly brackets (also called 'braces'), and angle brackets (also called 'chevrons'), as well as various less common pairs of symbols. As well as signifying the overall class of punctuation, the word "bracket" is commonly used to refer to a specific form of bracket, which varies from region to region. Georges Braque
Georges Braque ( , ; 13 May 1882 – 31 August 1963) was a major 20th-century List of French artists, French painter, Collage, collagist, Drawing, draughtsman, printmaker and sculpture, sculptor. His most notable contributions were in his alliance with Fauvism from 1905, and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Braque's work between 1908 and 1912 is closely associated with that of his colleague Pablo Picasso. Their respective Cubist works were indistinguishable for many years, yet the quiet nature of Braque was partially eclipsed by the fame and notoriety of Picasso.
