"Emily" is the seventh episode of the fifth season of American science fiction television series ''The X-Files''. It was written by Vince Gilligan, John Shiban and Frank Spotnitz and directed by Kim Manners. The episode explores the series' overarching mythology. Neoplasm
A neoplasm () is a type of abnormal and excessive growth of tissue. The process that occurs to form or produce a neoplasm is called neoplasia. The growth of a neoplasm is uncoordinated with that of the normal surrounding tissue, and persists in growing abnormally, even if the original trigger is removed. This abnormal growth usually forms a mass, when it may be called a tumor. ICD-10 classifies neoplasms into four main groups: benign neoplasms, in situ neoplasms, malignant neoplasms, and neoplasms of uncertain or unknown behavior. Malignant neoplasms are also simply known as cancers and are the focus of oncology. Colonist (The X-Files)
The Colonists are an extraterrestrial species and are also the primary group of antagonists in the science fiction television show, ''The X-Files'', as well as the first ''X-Files'' feature film. The mystery revolving around their identity and purpose is slowly revealed across the course of the series.
