Emilio Recoba
Emilio Recoba Cambón (born 3 November 1904 in Montevideo — 12 September 1992) was a Uruguayan footballer. He was part of the team that won the first World Cup in 1930 for Uruguay, but did not play any matches in the tournament. He was a club player of Nacional. When Emilio Recoba died on 12 September 1992 he was the last surviving member of Uruguay's 1930 World Cup-winning squad. At 2010, Recoba was also the longest-lived player, having died aged 88, before he was overtaken by French midfielder Célestin Delmer, who died aged 89 in 1996, and Delmer's countryman, forward Lucien Laurent, who died aged 97 in February 2005 and Peruvian goalkeeper Juan Valdivieso, who died at the age of 96 in January 2007 (In 2010, Francisco Varallo Francisco Antonio “Pancho” Varallo (; – ) was an Argentine football forward. Lucien Laurent (10 December 1907 – 11 April 2005) was a French association football player who played as a Forward (association football), forward. Playing for France national football team, France, at the 1930 FIFA World Cup, 1930 World Cup he scored the first ever FIFA World Cup goal against Mexico national football team, Mexico. Career Laurent was born in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, Val-de-Marne, near Paris. He was the younger brother of Jean Laurent (footballer), Jean Laurent, who also played football and represented France and was named to the squad for the 1930 World Cup. Francisco Varallo
Francisco Antonio “Pancho” Varallo (; – ) was an Argentine football forward. He played for the Argentina national team from 1930 to 1937. He represented Argentina at the inaugural FIFA World Cup in 1930. During his career, Varallo won four Primera División titles (one with Gimnasia y Esgrima LP and three with Boca Juniors) and with 194 goals in 222 official matches, is Boca Juniors' 3rd. highest all-time leading goalscorer. Besides, Varallo is placed 11th. among the all-time Argentine Primera División top scorers with 216 goals. Varallo died in his home-town of La Plata on , at the age of 100. Juan Humberto Valdivieso Padilla (6 May 1910 – 2 May 2007) was a Peruvian football goalkeeper and manager. Playing career During his career, he played club football for Alianza Lima. He made 10 appearances for the Peru national football team, participating at the 1930 FIFA World Cup and 1936 Summer Olympics. Managerial career After retiring as a player, Valdivieso went on to manage a number of clubs in Peru and the Peru national team.
