Emiliano Tardif
Emiliano Tardif (June 6, 1928 in the City of St-Zacharie, Quebec, Canada – June 8, 1999) was a missionary who is in the process of being beatified. Life Emiliano Tardif was born on June 6, 1928 in Quebec, Canada. He became a member of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart on September 8, 1949. Tardif was ordained a priest on June 24, 1955 and was sent to the Dominican Republic soon after his ordination. There, he became one of the founders of the Missionary Seminary of San José de las Matas. From 1966 to 1973, he was the superior of his order. In 1973 he fell ill with tuberculosis, which meant he had to return to Canada for treatment and rest. During this time he was prayed over by some lay people from a charismatic prayer group, who happened to be visiting the hospital. Through this he became involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) himself and discovered that he had been given a powerful gift of healing by God. Rufus Pereira
Rufus Pereira (5 May 1933 – 2 May 2012) was a Roman Catholic priest, author of publications on spiritual life, Doctor of theology and exorcist. Biography Born in Bandra, a suburb of Mumbai, India, he was ordained a priest in 1956. He received his doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. After returning to India, he worked as a high school principal in Mumbai. Since 1972 he was associated with the Catholic Movement for Renewal in the Holy Spirit. He published a monthly magazine devoted to the Catholic charismatic renewal in India. From 1994 he was the vice-president of the International Association of Exorcists, serving under president Gabriele Amorth. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal is a movement within the Catholic Church that is part of the wider charismatic movement across historic Christian churches. The Renewal has been described as a "current of grace". It began in 1967 when Catholics from Duquesne University attended a Protestant worship service and claimed to have been "baptized in the Holy Spirit".
