Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. Sara Carnicelli (born 31 October 1994) is an Italian middle and long-distance runner, competing for the Vatican City. Career Carnicelli started competing in 2010 as a youth athlete. In 2022, Carnicelli competed for the Vatican City, alongside her compatriot Emiliano Morbidelli, at the 2022 Championships of the Small States of Europe in the women's 5000 m.
