Emilia Bertolé
Emilia Bertolé or Ignacio Bertolé (1896–1949) was an Argentinian poet and painter. Life Bertolé was born in Rosario on 21 June 1896. She studied with the Italian teacher Mateo Casella at the Institute of Fine Arts "Doménico Morelli". She continued her painting and in 1912 she joined an exhibition with Erminio Blotta, Alfredo Guido, Manuel Musto, César Caggiano, Gustavo Cochet. left, Self portrait In 1927 she was the first woman to have her painting exhibited at the May Salon of the Santa Fe Museum "Rosa Galisteo Rodriguez". Her painting "Clarity" was of a woman looking thoughtful and it was bought by the museum. In 1929 Bertolé created three portraits of ex-President Hipólito Yrigoyen. Alfonsina Storni (22 May 1892 – 25 October 1938) was an Argentine poet and playwright of the modernist period. Early life Storni was born on May 29, 1892 in Sala Capriasca, Switzerland. Her parents were Alfonso Storni and Paola Martignoni, who were of Italian-Swiss descent. Before her birth, her father had started a brewery in the city of San Juan, Argentina, producing beer and soda. In 1891, following the advice of a doctor, he returned with his wife to Switzerland, where Alfonsina was born the following year; she lived there until she was four years old. In 1896 the family returned to San Juan, and a few years later, in 1901, moved to Rosario because of economic issues. There her father opened a tavern, where Storni did a variety of chores. Berta Singerman Begun ( be, Берта Сінгерман; 9 September 1901 – 10 December 1998), better known as Berta Singerman, was a Belarusian- Argentine singer and actress. Biography Singerman was born in Minsk, then part of the Russian Empire into a Jewish family. She emigrated to Argentina with her parents when she was a little girl. Horacio Silvestre Quiroga Forteza (31 December 1878 – 19 February 1937) was a Uruguayan playwright, poet, and short story writer. He wrote stories which, in their jungle settings, used the supernatural and the bizarre to show the struggle of man and animal to survive. He also excelled in portraying mental illness and hallucinatory states, a skill he gleaned from Edgar Allan Poe, according to some critics.
