Emil Mayer
Dr. Emil Mayer (3 October 1871 – 8 June 1938) was an Austrian photographer, lawyer, inventor, and businessperson. Biography Early life Emil Mayer was born on 3 October 1871 in Neubydzow, Bohemia (now Nový Bydžov, Czech Republic) to Leopold and Anna Mayer. In the summer of 1882, Mayer moved with his family to Vienna, Austria, where “his father set up business as a merchant.” From 1891 to 1896, Mayer studied law at the University of Vienna, where he earned the Juris Doctor. Personal life While still a student, Mayer left the Jewish community and converted to Catholicism. On 8 March 1894 he was baptized at the under the name Robert Emil. The painter was his godfather. Marriage On 6 June 1903 he married Elisabeth Deutsch (18 March 1882 – 8 June 1938). Royal Photographic Society
The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, commonly known as the Royal Photographic Society (RPS), is one of the world's oldest photographic societies. It was founded in London, England, in 1853 as the Photographic Society of London with the objective of promoting the art and science of photography, and in 1853 received Monarchy of the United Kingdom, royal patronage from Queen Victoria and Albert, Prince Consort, Prince Albert. A change to the society's name to reflect the patronage was, however, not considered expedient at the time. In 1874, it was renamed the Photographic Society of Great Britain, and only from 1894 did it become known as the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, a title which it continues to use today. Austrian Theatre Museum
The Theatermuseum is a federal museum of national theatre history. Since 1991 it is situated in the Palais Lobkowitz in Vienna. History The museum has its origins in the theatre-related collections of the Austrian National Library, dating back to the late 17th century. In 1922 the theatrical collections were set up as a separate organisation, under the directorship of Joseph Gregor (1888-1960), who with his spectacular exhibition from the library holdings in the same year succeeded in attracting the gift of the enormous private collection of theatre items belonging to Hugo Thimig, director of the Burgtheater. In 1938, Stefan Zweig bequeathed his eminent collection of poets' and playwrights' autographs to the museum - before he had to flee the Nazis.
