Brett Michael Emerton (born 22 February 1979) is an Australian former professional footballer who played for Sydney Olympic, Sydney FC, Feyenoord Rotterdam, Blackburn Rovers and the Australia national team. Ephraim Emerton
Ephraim Emerton (February 18, 1851 – March 3, 1935) was an American educator, author, translator, and historian prominent in his field of European medieval history. Early life and education Ephraim Emerton was born in Salem, Massachusetts, to James and Martha West Emerton. His elder brother was James Henry Emerton (1847–1930), naturalist and arachnologist. At the age of twenty, Emerton graduated from Harvard College. He continued his postgraduate education in Germany and received his doctorate from the University of Leipzig in 1876. Returning to Massachusetts the following year, he married Sybil M. Clark of Cambridge and accepted a teaching position at Harvard. James Henry Emerton
James Henry Emerton (March 31, 1847 – December 5, 1931) was an American arachnologist and illustrator. Early life Emerton was born at Salem, Massachusetts, on March 31, 1847. He was rather frail, and a young helper in his father's drug store, George F. Markoe, interested the boy in outdoor life. They collected plants, insects and shore invertebrates and at the age of fifteen he was frequently visiting the Essex Institute, where he became acquainted with A. S. Packard, F. W. Putnam, John Robinson, Caleb Cooke, and others who later became more or less prominent students of natural history. From the first, he showed much skill in drawing and made sketches of a great variety of natural objects. Audrey Emerton, Baroness Emerton
Audrey Caroline Emerton, Baroness Emerton (born 10 September 1935) is a former member of the House of Lords. She sat as a crossbencher. Appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 1989 New Year Honours, she was created a life peer as Baroness Emerton, of Tunbridge Wells in the County of Kent and of Clerkenwell in the London Borough of Islington on 17 February 1997. She sat in the House of Lords until her retirement on 1 November 2019. John Emerton
John Adney Emerton, (5 June 1928 – 12 September 2015) was a British Anglican priest, theologian, and academic. He was Regius Professor of Hebrew at the University of Cambridge from 1968 to 1995. Early life and education Emerton was born on 5 June 1928. He studied theology at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and graduated from the University of Oxford with a first class Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1950. From 1950 to 1952, he trained for ordination at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. His BA was promoted to a Master of Arts (MA (Oxon)) degree in 1954. Andrew Neil Emerton (born 1972) is a British Anglican bishop. Since September 2020, he has been Bishop of Sherwood in the Church of England. Early life and education Emerton grew up in Guilden Sutton near Chester, Cheshire. He studied at the University of York, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in 1993. Karin Emerton
Karin Leigh Emerton (born 6 May 1957) is a justice of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria in Australia. Emerton is a graduate of the University of Sydney and University of New South Wales in Australia, and completed a doctorate at the Sorbonne. Emerton worked as a solicitor at Blake Dawson Waldron from 1989; during her time there she was seconded to the Victorian Attorney-General's Department. Wendy Richard (born Wendy Emerton; 20 July 1943 – 26 February 2009) was an English actress, known for her television roles as Miss Shirley Brahms on the BBC sitcom ''Are You Being Served?'' from 1972 to 1985, and Pauline Fowler on the soap opera ''EastEnders'' from 1985 to 2006. Despite being known for her Cockney accent, Richard was born in Middlesbrough.
