Emergency Response Information Network
The Emergency Response Information Network (ERIN), is a 24-hour hurricane TV channel set up by the Dish Network. It was formerly called the Katrina Information Network. Dish network set up the channel to provide information on missing people from Hurricane Katrina, but then changed the name before Hurricane Rita came ashore. Dish Network provides the channel free of charge to all Dish customers. Important phone numbers and other updates provided by hurricane relief agencies are shown in addition to the names of missing or dislocated children and adults. Hurricane
A tropical cyclone is a rapidly rotating storm system characterized by a low-pressure center, a closed low-level atmospheric circulation, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of thunderstorms that produce heavy rain and squalls. Hurricane Katrina was a destructive Category 5 Atlantic hurricane that caused over 1,800 fatalities and $125 billion in damage in late August 2005, especially in the city of New Orleans and the surrounding areas. It was at the time the costliest tropical cyclone on record and is now tied with 2017's Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Rita was the most intense tropical cyclone on record in the Gulf of Mexico and the fourth-most intense Atlantic hurricane ever recorded.
