Emerald City Roller Girls
Emerald City Roller Derby (ECRD), formerly known as Emerald City Roller Girls, is a roller derby league based in Eugene, Oregon. Founded in 2007, the league once consisted of three teams and a mixed team which competed against teams from other leagues. ECRD was founded in January 2007 by a group of people who met through a knitting circle, and a posting on Craigslist. By January 2010, the league had around 80 skaters. KATU (channel 2) is a television station in Portland, Oregon, United States, affiliated with ABC. The International Women's Flat Track Derby Association Championships ("WFTDA Championships" or "Champs" for short) are the leading competition for roller derby leagues. The WFTDA Western Regional Tournament or WFTDA West Region Playoffs was one of four roller derby qualifying tournaments for the WFTDA Championships. The Tournament was organised by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Full WFTDA members in the Western Region members were eligible for ranking, and the top ten leagues would qualify for the Western Regional Tournament, with the top three finalists qualifying for the Championships. Junior roller derby is the sport of roller derby, modified for children and adolescents up to 18 years of age. The sport is played in both modified-contact, known as "positional blocking," and full-contact approaches, to facilitate safety across multiple age and skill groups.
