''Emerald'' is the ninth studio album by singer/songwriter Dar Williams, released in 2015 by Bread & Butter Music. Release and reception Williams found herself without a record label and turned to Kickstarter to fund this recording. For AllMusic Guide, Marcy Donelson gave the album a positive review, praising the line-up of guest musicians and Williams' cover of "Johnny Appleseed" in particular. In the '' Colorado Springs Independent'', Loring Wirbel criticizes her "noticeable formula" for songwriting but concludes that the album is, "her most cohesive set since 2003's ''The Beauty of the Rain''". Dar Williams
Dorothy Snowden "Dar" Williams (born April 19, 1967) is an American pop folk singer-songwriter from Mount Kisco, New York. Hendrik Hertzberg of ''The New Yorker'' has described Williams as "one of America's very best singer-songwriters." She is a frequent performer at folk festivals and has toured with such artists as Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patty Griffin, Ani DiFranco, the Nields, Shawn Colvin, Girlyman, Joan Baez, and Catie Curtis. Early life Williams was born in Mount Kisco, New York, and grew up in Chappaqua with two older sisters, Meredith and Julie. Her nickname "Dar" originated due to a mispronunciation of "Dorothy" by one of Williams's sisters. In a 2008 interview with WUKY radio, Dar said her parents wanted to name her Darcy, after the character in ''Pride and Prejudice'', and that they intentionally called her "Dar-Dar", which she shortened to "Dar" in school. Joe Strummer
John Graham Mellor (21 August 1952 – 22 December 2002), known professionally as Joe Strummer, was a British singer, musician and songwriter. He was the co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist and co-lead vocalist of punk rock band the Clash, formed in 1976. The Clash's second album ''Give 'Em Enough Rope'' (1978) reached No. 2 on the UK charts. Soon after, they achieved success in the US, starting with ''London Calling'' (1979) and peaking with '' Combat Rock'' (1982), which reached No. 7 on the US charts and was certified 2× platinum there. Richard Thompson (musician)
Richard Thompson (born 3 April 1949) is an English singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Thompson first gained prominence in the late 1960s as the lead guitarist and songwriter for the folk rock group Fairport Convention, which he had co-founded in 1967. After departing the group in 1971, Thompson released his debut solo album ''Henry the Human Fly'' in 1972. The next year, he formed a duo with his then-wife Linda Thompson, which produced six albums, including the critically acclaimed ''I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight'' (1974) and ''Shoot Out the Lights'' (1982). After the dissolution of the duo, Thompson revived his solo career with the release of ''Hand of Kindness'' in 1983. He has released a total of eighteen solo studio albums. In various theistic religious traditions an angel is a supernatural spiritual being who serves God. Abrahamic religions often depict angels as benevolent celestial intermediaries between God (or Heaven) and humanity. Other roles include protectors and guides for humans, and servants of God.
