Emekuku
Emekuku, is a town in Owerri North Local Government of Imo state in South-Eastern Nigeria. There are two great rivers in Emekuku: Okitankwo and Oramuru-ukwa. Emekuku people belong to a group of people generally referred to as 'Owerre people' sharing the same tonal dialect and similar cultures with this larger group. Nkwo Emeke is the biggest market in Emekuku land and trading activities peak on Nkwo days (Igbo calendar). Orie Nwinyi Emeke is another important market in Azara Egbelu one of the ten villages (Azaraegbelu, Azaraowalla, Akalovo, Ezeogba, Ezedibia, Uboegebelu, Ubowalla, Umuakuru, Umuocham, and Okwuemeke), that make up the town. The most important festival in Emekuku town is called 'Ugu Uzo' Emeke. It is usually celebrated in the month of November of every year. Sebastian Okechukwu Mezu
Dr Sebastian Okechukwu Mezu (born April 30, 1941) is a Nigerian writer, scholar, philanthropist, and publisher. He was involved in politics in Nigeria in the late 1970s. Background Sebastian Okechukwu Mezu was born on April 30, 1941, in Ezeogba, Emekuku, Owerri, Imo State. He received a B.A. in French (1964) with minors in German and Philosophy from Georgetown University. Anthony John Valentine Obinna
Anthony John Valentine Obinna (born 26 June 1946 in Emekukwu, Imo State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian priest and the archbishop of Owerri from 26 March 1994 until 6 March 2022. Biography Ordained as a priest on 1972, he incardinated in the Diocese of Owerri. John Paul II appointed him as the bishop of Owerri diocese in 1993. He was consecrated by bishop Carlo Maria Viganò on the following 4 September. Imo State

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri (Latin: ''Archidioecesis Overriensis'') is located in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. The Seat of Wisdom Seminary is in Owerri. The archdiocese covers an area of 2,996 km2. 670,986 of the 1.7 million people in the area are member of the Catholic Church. History The diocese dates back to the Vicariate Apostolic of Owerri, which was created on February 12, 1948, when the Vicariate Apostolic of Onitsha-Owerri was split.
