Emancipation And Liberation
''Emancipation and Liberation'' is a journal produced by the Republican Communist Network, a former platform of the Scottish Socialist Party. It was established in Spring 2002. Since its establishment, the journal has hosted a number of debates within the left. The longest running has been the debate in response to Neil Davidson's Discovering the Scottish Revolution 1692–1746. Starting in Issue 5, Autumn 2003 with Allan Armstrong's Broadswords and Bayonets. Challenging left nationalist and left unionism in the SSP the debate continued through to Issue 10, Summer 2005 with ''Caught Between the Covenant and the Clans''. Dundee
Dundee (; sco, Dundee; gd, Dùn Dè or ) is Scotland's fourth-largest city and the 51st-most-populous built-up area in the United Kingdom. The mid-year population estimate for 2016 was , giving Dundee a population density of 2,478/km2 or 6,420/sq mi, the second-highest in Scotland. Scottish Socialist Party
The Scottish Socialist Party (SSP; gd, Pàrtaidh Sòisealach na h-Alba; sco, Scots Socialist Pairtie) is a left-wing political party campaigning for the establishment of an independent socialist Scotland. The party was founded in 1998. It campaigns for Scottish independence, against cuts to public services and welfare and for democratic public ownership of the economy. The SSP was one of three parties in Yes Scotland, the official cross-party campaign for Scottish independence in the 2014 referendum, with national co-spokesperson Colin Fox sitting on its advisory board. The Republic of Letters (''Respublica literaria'') is the long-distance intellectual community in the late 17th and 18th centuries in Europe and the Americas. It fostered communication among the intellectuals of the Age of Enlightenment, or ''philosophes'' as they were called in France. The Republic of Letters emerged in the 17th century as a self-proclaimed community of scholars and literary figures that stretched across national boundaries but respected differences in language and culture.
