Elvis Évora
Elvis Garcia Monteiro Évora (born 4 February 1978) is a Portuguese former basketball player who played as a center. He played for Porto, from 1998/1999 to 2004/2005. After a season at Tenerife, he moved back to Portugal, playing for Ovarense, from 2006/07 to 2007/08, where he was twice National Champion. In 2008, he moved to GandÃa BA, in Spain. With the season going, he signed for Benfica becoming a starter and a very important player for the team. He plays for Portugal since 2000. He had 95 caps by October 2007. Elvis Évora played at the EuroBasket 2007 finals, where Portugal reached the 2nd phase. Center (basketball)
The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. They traditionally play close to the basket in the low post. Centers are valued for their ability to protect their own goal from high-percentage close attempts on defense, while scoring and rebounding with high efficiency on offense. In the 1950s and 1960s, George Mikan and Bill Russell were centerpieces of championship dynasties and defined early prototypical centers. António Pratas Trophy
The Troféu António Pratas (English: ''António Pratas Trophy'') is an annual cup competition for Portuguese basketball teams organized by the Portuguese Basketball Federation. Created in 2007 to honour António Pratas, its first edition was only open to Proliga clubs. A year later, it expanded to include teams from the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol and has since established itself as a "curtain-raiser" for the season. Played in early October in two different levels, Proliga and LPB, each winner receives a trophy for their respective competition. After the inaugural season won by Benfica, its second had six winners in the three different regions. Its third year was a one-off edition were both leagues played together. Portuguese Basketball League Cup
The Portuguese Basketball League Cup (Taça da Liga) is a competition for Portuguese teams that play in LPB. It was played by the clubs of the former LCB, which was a professional league. After the LCB folded in 2008, the League Cup ended as well. In the 2009–10 season, the competition was restarted as Hugo dos Santos Cup (Taça Hugo dos Santos), in honor of the former president of the Portuguese Basketball Federation.
