''Elvis and the Beauty Queen'' is a 1981 American made-for-television drama musical film starring Don Johnson and Stephanie Zimbalist. It aired on NBC on March 1, 1981 at 9pm. Plot Don Johnson stars as Elvis Presley in this made-for-TV true story about Elvis's love affair with Linda Thompson (Stephanie Zimbalist), a young beauty pageant contestant who was his live-in girlfriend and traveling companion for four of the last five years of his life. The story begins with their first meeting and traces their years together when Thompson tried to keep Presley off drugs in the last years of his career. Gus Trikonis (born Kostas Tritchonis; November 21, 1937) is an American actor, dancer, and director. Career Trikonis began his career as an actor and dancer, notably appearing in the hugely successful 1961 film ''West Side Story (1961 film), West Side Story'' as Indio, one of the "Sharks", as well as dancing with Debbie Reynolds and Grover Dale to the frantic "He's My Friend" in 1964's ''The Unsinkable Molly Brown (film), The Unsinkable Molly Brown''. Ruta Lee (born Ruta Mary Kilmonis; May 30, 1935) is an American actress and dancer who appeared as one of the brides in the musical ''Seven Brides for Seven Brothers''. Gary Lee Davis (August 13, 1944 – October 13, 1997) was an American convicted murderer and rapist who was executed by the U.S. state of Colorado in 1997. He was the only person to be executed by the state of Colorado between 1968 and 2020; when Colorado abolished capital punishment. Early life Davis was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 13, 1944. Although raised by his mother, he later claimed to have suffered sexual abuse from an early age at the hands of his older stepbrothers.
