Elton, Cheshire
Elton is a village and civil parishes in England, civil parish in Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire, England, northeast of Chester, between Helsby and Ellesmere Port, near the River Mersey. Its proximity to the Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal have contributed to its industrial character. The village is on the north-western edge of the Cheshire Plain, from Stanlow Oil Refinery, Stanlow Refinery. At the 2011 United Kingdom census , 2011 census, the village had a population of 3,586. History The name of the village was recorded in the Domesday Book as ''Eltone'', derived from the words ''ēl'' and ''tūn'', meaning "eel farm or settlement''. Elton was a township within the Thornton-le-Moors, Thornton parish of the Hundreds of Cheshire, Eddisbury Hundred. It became a civil parish in 1866. Warrington Bank Quay Railway Station
Warrington Bank Quay railway station is one of three railway stations serving the town centre of Warrington in Cheshire, England. Warrington Bank Quay is a north–south oriented mainline station on one side of the main shopping area, with the west–east oriented Warrington West and Warrington Central operating a more frequent service to the neighbouring cities of Liverpool and Manchester. Cheshire Cat Buses are operated from the station into Warrington Bus Interchange and in the opposite direction to the Centre Park business park, Stockton Heath and further south into Cheshire. Liverpool Lime Street Railway Station
Liverpool Lime Street is a terminus railway station and the main station serving the city centre of Liverpool. Opened in August 1836, it is the oldest still-operating grand terminus mainline station in the world. A branch of the West Coast Main Line from London Euston terminates at the station, as does the original Liverpool and Manchester Railway. Journeys from Lime Street cover a wide range of destinations across England, Scotland and Wales. Having realised that their existing Crown Street railway station was too far away from the city centre, the Liverpool and Manchester Railway commenced construction of the more central Lime Street station in October 1833. Helsby Railway Station
Helsby railway station serves the village of Helsby in Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade II listed building. The station is on the Chester–Warrington line between Chester and Warrington Bank Quay and on the Hooton–Helsby line to Hooton. Facilities There is a BT Payphone on Platform 1. Limited seating exists on Platform 1 and 2. The station has won numerous Best Kept Station awards. A Customer Information System has been installed and is operational. There is no disabled access to trains calling at this station due to the low platforms. Platforms for the Manchester and Ellesmere Port services can also only be reached by using the footbridge. Stanlow & Thornton Railway Station
Stanlow and Thornton railway station is located within the Stanlow Refinery in Cheshire, England. It lies on the Hooton–Helsby line with services operated by Northern Trains. The station is surrounded by the refinery site, so as a result most station users are refinery employees. In 2018–19 it was the joint least-used railway station in Britain, tied with Denton in Greater Manchester. Ellesmere Port Railway Station
Ellesmere Port railway station is located in the town of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England. The station was an intermediate though station on the Hooton–Helsby line. Now all passenger services terminate at the station from both directions. It is both a terminus of the Wirral Line, a commuter rail system operated by Merseyrail and of Northern Trains services to Warrington Bank Quay. Ince & Elton railway station, on the Hooton–Helsby line, serves both Ince and Elton in Cheshire, England. The station is unstaffed. Justin Piers Richard Madders (born 22 November 1972) is a British Labour Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellesmere Port and Neston since the May 2015 general election. Little Stanney is a suburban village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is located on the Wirral Peninsula between Chester and Ellesmere Port. At the 2011 census the population of the parish was 198. History In 1086, Little Stanney was recorded in the ''Domesday Book'' as ''Stanei'' and was described as a fishery. The land was held by "Restald from Earl Hugh" (a Norman baron). The village was originally part of the Stoak Parish in the Wirral Hundred. The population was 203 in 1801, 177 in 1851, 145 in 1901, 268 in 1951 and 281 in 2001.
