Elseworlds 80-Page Giant
''Elseworlds 80-Page Giant'' is an 80-page collection of '' Elseworlds'' stories published by DC Comics. The collection was withdrawn and pulped after DC became concerned about a scene in one of the stories. Publication history This comic included the stories "''Superman Jr. Is No More!''", featuring the Super-Sons, and "''Letitia Lerner, Superman's Babysitter''", among others. However, DC Comics President Paul Levitz deemed the Letitia Lerner story inappropriate (for featuring scenes depicting the baby Superman in a microwave, among others) and ordered the press run halted and the printed issues destroyed. Despite of it, around 2,000 copies of the issue had already been shipped to the UK. Although DC attempted to recall these copies, they quickly became a highly sought after collector's item (see Recalled comics for more pulped, recalled, and erroneous comics), and estimates of available copies range between 700 and 2,000. Ty Templeton
Tyrone Templeton is a Canadian comic book artist and writer who has drawn a number of mainstream titles, TV-associated titles, and his own series. Career Templeton first received attention for ''Stig's Inferno'' (Vortex Comics), now a cult favourite, which detailed the journey of its lead character into Hell in a parody of Dante's ''The Divine Comedy''. Templeton recalled that after reading the three books of The Divine Comedy, "I fell in love with them as stories. It took a bit to get past the language translations, but for a year or so, I was reading different versions, off and on, as my reading on subways and buses, getting to and from school." Templeton first transferred this inspiration into comic book form with the intent of making it a strip in his campus newspaper, but ended up shelving the project until Vortex publisher William P. Recalled Comics
Comic books have been recalled for various reasons including simple printing errors, stories or images that were deemed inappropriate or to avoid potential lawsuits. The rarest of these books is probably ''The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'' volume 1, issue #5, which was recalled due to the inclusion of a 19th-century advertisement for "Marvel"-brand douche; since ''League'' was published by an imprint of DC Comics, DC's publisher felt that this could be perceived as an attack on DC's main rival, Marvel Comics. Other notable recalls were the ''Elseworlds 80-Page Giant'' which included a portrayal of baby Superman in a microwave, and Marvel Knights' '' Elektra'' #3 which included tame nude images of the title character. Jimmy Olsen
Jimmy Olsen is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Olsen is most often portrayed as a young photojournalist working for the ''Daily Planet''. He is close friends with Lois Lane and Clark Kent, and has a good working relationship with his boss Perry White. Olsen looks up to his coworkers as role models and parent figures. From 1954 to 1982, Olsen appeared in 222 issues of the comic series ''Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen'' and ''Superman Family'', in addition to the main Superman titles. The character has appeared in most other media adaptations of Superman. He was portrayed by Tommy Bond in the two Superman film serials, ''Superman'' (1948) and '' Atom Man vs. Superman'' (1950).
