Else Sehrig-Vehling (26 May 1897 in Düsseldorf – 12 February 1994 in Bad SalzuflenEntry on the birth certification (civil registration office Düsseldorf-Mitte No. 3194) Microfilm Einwohnermelderegister (MF) Düsseldorf) was a German expressionist. She was the daughter of the Architect Heinrich Vehling (1868 in Düsseldorf – 1944 in Koblenz) and of Eva Hubertine (maiden name Habes) (1874 in Düsseldorf – 1953). She was a member of an artist group called '' Das junge Rheinland'' (The Young Rhinelanders). Her style was influenced by her close friendships to Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Carl Barth, Max Schwimmer, Fritz Winter and other German artists. In 1921, Else Sehrig-Vehling was one of the first female art students of the Arts Academy of the city of Düsseldorf. The City Museum of Düsseldorf honoured her with an exhibition in 1983, showing her early expressionist works. The Kunstakademie Düsseldorf is the academy of fine arts of the state of North Rhine Westphalia at the city of Düsseldorf, Germany. Kunsthalle Düsseldorf is an exhibition hall for contemporary art in Düsseldorf. Building The present art centre was built in 1967 in Brutalist architecture by the architects Konrad Beckmann and Brockes. They used commercially available precast concrete for the construction work. Deutsche Werkbund
The Deutscher Werkbund (English: "German Association of Craftsmen"; ) is a German association of artists, architects, designers and industrialists established in 1907. The Werkbund became an important element in the development of modern architecture and industrial design, particularly in the later creation of the Bauhaus school of design. Its initial purpose was to establish a partnership of product manufacturers with design professionals to improve the competitiveness of German companies in global markets. Fritz Winter
Fritz Winter (22 September 1905 in Altenbögge (now part of Bönen) – 1 October 1976 in Herrsching) was a German painter of the postwar period best known for his abstract works in the Art Informel style. Life Like his father, Winter began electrical work in the coal mines at a young age. In 1925, however, his travels in Belgium and the Netherlands kindled his interest in drawing and painting, particularly the work of Vincent van Gogh. Within two years this affinity led to his admission to the Bauhaus, the state-sponsored Weimar school of art and applied design founded in 1919 by architect Walter Gropius. Winter studied in Dessau under Bauhaus masters Vasily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, and Oskar Schlemmer, among others, for three years, and participated in Junge Bauhausmaler (Young Bauhaus painters) in 1929. Max Schwimmer
Max Schwimmer (9 December 1895 – 12 March 1960) was a German painter, graphic artist and illustrator. Life Schwimmer was born in Leipzig as the son of a factory bookbinder. He attended the there. He then worked for several years as a school teacher in in the Erzgebirge and in Marienberg. During the First World War, he was drafted as a soldier. After returning from the war, he began studying art history and philosophy at the Leipzig University in 1919. This period saw the beginnings of his artistic activity. He also found a connection to the anti-bourgeois cabaret scene, which was dominated by Hans Reimann (writer), Hans Reimann, Erich Weinert, Slang (Fritz Hampel), and Joachim Ringelnatz, Ringelnatz.
