Eloy Vargas
Eloy Vargas (born December 30, 1988) is a Dominican professional basketball player for Trotamundos de Carabobo of the SPB. He started his collegiate basketball career at Florida, and finished it at Kentucky, and represents the Dominican national team in international competition. Professional career After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 2012, Vargas returned to the Dominican Republic to play for Cañeros de La Romana of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto. On August 24, 2012, Vargas signed a two-year deal with CB Clavijo of the LEB Oro. He later left Clavijo in September 2012 before appearing in a game for them. He then signed with Alba Fehérvár of Hungary in October 2012 but did not end up joining the team. He went on to play for three Dominican teams in 2013: Cupes de los Pepines, San Lazaro and Cañeros de La Romana. In July 2013, Vargas joined the New York Knicks for the 2013 NBA Summer League. The Liga Española de Baloncesto, also known as LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system after the Liga ACB. It is run by the FEB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto is divided into two categories (the other one is the LEB Plata). The LEB league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. It was renamed LEB Oro in 2007. The league is contested by 18 clubs. Each season, the top-finishing team in the LEB Oro are automatically promoted to the Liga ACB. Club Baloncesto Clavijo is a professional Basketball team based in Logroño, La Rioja. The team currently plays in league LEB Oro. History Founded in 1967, CB Clavijo started their first years playing in the provincial league and after achieving several promotions, reaches the Segunda División, third tier, in 1977. It played nine seasons, qualifying twice for the promotion playoffs to the second league, but after 1986 starts declining until 1998, when a group of former players and directors planned to take the helm of the club and to take it to the top divisions.
