Elmano Férrer
Elmano Férrer (born August 1, 1942) is a Brazilian politician and lawyer. He has represented Piauí in the Federal Senate from 2015 to 2023. Previously he was mayor of Teresina from 2010 to 2013. He is a member of Progressistas (PP). Brazilian Senate
The Federal Senate ( pt, Senado Federal) is the upper house of the National Congress of Brazil. When created under the Imperial Constitution in 1824, it was based on the House of Lords of the British Parliament, but since the Proclamation of the Republic in 1889 and under the first republican Constitution the Federal Senate has resembled the United States Senate. The current president of the Federal Senate is Rodrigo Pacheco, a member of the Social Democratic Party from Minas Gerais. He was elected in February, 2021 for a two-year term. Piaui (, ) is one of the states of Brazil, located in the country's Northeast Region. The state has 1.6% of the Brazilian population and produces 0.7% of the Brazilian GDP. Piaui has the shortest coastline of any coastal Brazilian state at 66 km (41 mi), and the capital, Teresina, is the only state capital in the northeast to be located inland. Podemos (PODE; , ), previously known as the National Labour Party ( pt, Partido Trabalhista Nacional, PTN) is a Brazilian political party which supports direct democracy.
