Elliot Werk
Elliot Werk (born April 16, 1957) is a Democratic politician from Boise, Idaho in the United States. From 2002 until 2015 he served as the Idaho State Senator from District 17, which is based in the Boise Bench neighborhood. Werk was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and emigrated to the United States when he was seven years old. He became a naturalized United States citizen while in college. After living in various locations throughout the United States, Werk moved to Idaho in the late 1990s with his family. Werk was elected to the Idaho Senate in 2002, defeating Republican incumbent Grant R. Ipsen and Libertarian candidate David H. Slack. He was reelected to a sixth term in 2012 by a nearly 2-1 margin. In January 2009 Werk succeeded Kate Kelly as assistant minority leader in the Idaho Senate. The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. The GOP was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists who opposed the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of chattel slavery into the western territories. Since Ronald Reagan's presidency in the 1980s, conservatism has been the dominant ideology of the GOP. It has been the main political rival of the Democratic Party since the mid-1850s. Boise City Council
The Boise City Council is the governing body of the City of Boise, Idaho, Boise, Idaho. The council is composed of six members elected at-large for four-year terms. Three of the six seats are elected in November every odd-numbered year. Regular council meetings are held at Boise City Hall on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM, except on the fourth Tuesday of the month when they are held at 12:00 PM. Idaho Statesman
The ''Idaho Statesman'' is the daily newspaper of Boise, Idaho, in the western United States. It is owned by The McClatchy Company. History The paper was first published as the ''Idaho Tri-Weekly Statesman'' on July 26, 1864, by James S. Reynolds; it began publication from a log cabin on the current site of Boise City Hall. Reynolds owned and operated the paper for its first eight years, selling to Judge Milton Kelly in 1872. Kelly's 17-year run ended in 1888, with the expansion to daily publication, and a name change: The ''Idaho Daily Statesman''. That summer, Kelly sold the paper to the Cobb family, which went on to run the paper for 70 years. Calvin Cobb published the ''Statesman'' until his death in 1928, when control was transferred to his daughter Margaret Cobb Ailshie. A brain tumor occurs when abnormal cells form within the brain. There are two main types of tumors: malignant tumors and benign (non-cancerous) tumors. These can be further classified as primary tumors, which start within the brain, and secondary tumors, which most commonly have spread from tumors located outside the brain, known as brain metastasis tumors. All types of brain tumors may produce symptoms that vary depending on the size of the tumor and the part of the brain that is involved. Clint Stennett
W. Clinton "Clint" Stennett (October 1, 1956 – October 14, 2010) was a Democratic politician and a minority leader of the Idaho Senate. Stennett represented District 25, which includes Blaine, Gooding, Camas and Lincoln Counties. Stennett served in the Idaho Senate from 1994 to 2010, but was unable to fulfill his duties after the 2008 session due to poor health. He served as the minority leader from 1999 to 2009. He previously served in the Idaho House from 1990 through 1994. Stennett was president of E-da-Ha Inc., which owns television stations in Sun Valley, Twin Falls and McCall. As one of the state's most prominent Democrats, Stennett had been mentioned as a potential candidate for governor in 2006. However, he chose stand for reelection to the Idaho Senate instead.
