Ellen Tiedtke
Ellen Tiedtke (16 March 1930 – 1 February 2022) was a German actress and cabaret artist. Tiedtke became known primarily through the GDR children's program Ellentie, which ran from 1983 to 1991. She died on 1 February 2022, at the age of 91. Life Born in Bischofsburg, East Prussia, Prussia, Germany (Biskupiec, Poland), Tiedtke studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig from 1949 to 1952 and was then employed at the Stadttheater Cottbus until 1954. Here, together with Ursula Wagner, Erhard Köster, Walter Niklaus and Edi Weeber-Fried, she was one of the founding members of the local cabaret ensemble "Die Sticklinge". In 1956/1957, she performed in the "Leipziger Pfeffermühle" and later in the Berlin ensemble "Die Distel" until 1964. She then started freelancing as a singer in the manner of Claire Waldoff. Claire Waldoff (21 October 1884 – 22 January 1957), born Clara Wortmann, was a German singer. She was a famous kabarett singer and entertainer in Berlin during the 1910s and 1920s, chiefly known for performing ironic songs in the Berlin dialect and with lesbian undertones and themes. Biography Wortmann was born the eleventh child of sixteen in Gelsenkirchen, Westphalia, where her parents owned a tavern. After completing Gymnasium school in Hanover, she trained as an actress and chose as her pseudonym ''Claire Waldoff''. In 1903, she got her first theatre jobs in Bad Pyrmont and in Kattowitz (Katowice), Silesia. In 1906, Waldoff went to Berlin, where she performed at the ''Figaro-Theater'' on Kurfürstendamm. Staatstheater Cottbus
The Staatstheater Cottbus is the only state theatre of the German federal state of Brandenburg in Cottbus. It has its own ensemble presenting plays, operas, operettas, musicals, orchestral concerts and ballet. The theatre had more than 130.000 spectators in 2013. History The theatre was built on demand by the citizens of Cottbus, a town flourishing around 1900 due to textile industry.
