Elite Racing Club
{{unreferenced, date=September 2011 Elite Racing Club is a horse racing club. In 1992, Tony Hill purchased a racehorse and named it “Elite Reg” to promote his company Elite Registrations. Although this horse didn’t become a well known name in the horseracing world, this became the trigger to start Elite Racing Club. The now 10,000 members pay an annual fee (£199) to join the club and renewal discounts are available after the first year of membership. Members receive a share of the prizemoney earned by the club's horses. Additionally they receive a weekly newsletter, plus options to visit both the stables as well as courses where the club's horses are racing, with opportunities for members to gain both paddock and winner enclosure entry. In recent years the club has focused increasingly on breeding racehorses who will go on to race for the club. It has achieved much success with this, notably with the champion mare Soviet Song. Soviet Song
Soviet Song (18 February 2000 – 16 November 2015) was a racehorse bred and owned by Elite Racing Club. She was foaled on 18 February 2000, sired by Marju (IRE) out of Kalinka (IRE) (Soviet Star). She raced in England, Ireland and France during her career and she was the highest rated older filly in the World in 2004 and 2005. Racing career Soviet Song was trained at Newmarket by James Fanshawe during her 24 race career and she was ridden by only three jockeys, Oscar Urbina, Johnny Murtagh and Jamie Spencer. Nicky Henderson
Nicholas John Henderson (born 10 December 1950) is a British racehorse trainer. He has been British jump racing Champion Trainer six times. Background His father was Johnny Henderson who was one of the founders of the Racecourse Holdings Trust as well as earlier in life being Aide-de-camp to Field Marshal Montgomery. In 2005 two years after Johnny Henderson's death Cheltenham renamed one of the races at the Cheltenham Festival in his honour as the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase. In 2006 Nicky Henderson won this race with a horse called Greenhope. Henderson, educated at Eton College, has been a trainer since 1978, based at Seven Barrows near Lambourn, Berkshire. Previously he was an amateur jockey, and assistant trainer to Fred Winter between 1974 and 1978. James Fanshawe
James Fanshawe is a British racehorse trainer. Horse training career He principally trains flat horses such as multiple Group 1 winner Soviet Song. However, he has twice won the Champion Hurdle: in 1992 with Royal Gait, previously a disqualified winner of the Ascot Gold Cup; and ten years later with Hors La Loi III. Fanshawe has also won at the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals with the J. P. McManus-owned Reveillez. He trains at Pegasus Stables in Newmarket. Sir Mark Prescott
Sir Mark Prescott, 3rd Baronet (born 1948), is an English race horse trainer with over 2000 winners to his name, including Alpinista, winner of the 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He is based at Heath House Stables, an historic 50 box yard at the bottom of Warren Hill in Newmarket. Background Prescott is the son of Conservative Party MP Stanley Prescott and grandson of Sir William Prescott, 1st Baronet, who was also a Conservative MP. He attended Harrow School and in 1965 inherited the Prescott baronetcy from his uncle. Prescott left school aged fifteen, with plans to become a jockey. He was riding in a race at Wye in 1965 when he broke his back in a fall, resulting in a nine-month hospital stay. He then joined the yard of Jack Waugh at Heath House Stables and took over the licence on Waugh's retirement in 1970. Alan King (horse Racing)
Alan King (born 1966) is a Scottish racehorse trainer specialising mainly in National Hunt racing. He is based at Barbury Castle stables near Wroughton, Wiltshire. He worked as assistant trainer to David Nicholson until Nicholson's retirement and then took out a licence to train himself, first at Jackdaw's Castle stables, before moving to Barbury Castle in June 2000. His biggest wins at the Cheltenham Festival have come with My Way de Solzen in the 2006 World Hurdle, Voy Por Ustedes in the 2007 Queen Mother Champion Chase, Katchit in the 2008 Champion Hurdle, Oh Crick in the 2009 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase and Uxizandre in the 2015 Ryanair Chase Despite a terrible year with injuries, the yard also had a 1–2 in the 2013 Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle with Medinas and Meister Eckhart. New Seeker
New Seeker was a racehorse owned by Elite Racing Club. He was foaled on 1 March 2000. His sire was Green Desert and his dam was Ahbab. New Seeker raced solely on the Flat. His first race was on 21 September 2002 and his final race was on 30 May 2008. He won two major flat handicap races in the UK during 2003. These races were the Britannia Stakes (Handicap) at Royal Ascot on 19 June 2003 and the Tote International Stakes Showcase Handicap at Ascot on 26 July 2003. He again won two major flat handicap races in 2005. These races were the Royal Hunt Cup (Heritage Handicap) at Royal Ascot at York on 15 June 2005 and the Totesport International Stakes Heritage Handicap at Newbury on 23 July 2005.
