Elise Hove Thorsnes (born 14 August 1988) is a Norwegian Association football, footballer who plays as a Forward (association football), forward for Vålerenga Fotball Damer, Vålerenga and the Norway women's national football team, Norwegian national team. Club career Thorsnes was born in Leikanger. She made her debut for the former elite team Kaupanger IL, Kaupanger, and stayed there until her debut for Arna-Bjørnar in 2006. Thorsnes made her debut at the same time as Erika Skarbø, Madeleine Giske and Trude Johannessen. Arna-Bjørnar finished in 5th place in 2006. Thorsnes was the top scorer in the Toppserien with 19 goals, and was named Young Player of the Year, and was named to the 2006 Toppserien Team of the Year. The 2007 season was less successful for Thorsnes as she only scored 6 goals and Arna-Bjørnar finished in 4th place. The Norway women's national football team is controlled by the Football Association of Norway. The team is former European, World and Olympic champions and thus one of the most successful national teams. The team has had less success since the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. Erika Espeseth Skarbø (born 12 June 1987 in Ålesund) is a Norwegian football goalkeeper who currently plays for Arna-Bjørnar in Norway's Toppserien, where she is trained by Reidun Seth. She has also played for IL Hødd and Fortuna Ålesund. Skarbø is also a member of the Norway women's national football team, having made her senior team debut on 12 February 2007 in a match against France. Skarbø has made 8 senior appearances for Norway, and has 45 youth team caps. She was the reserve keeper for the Norwegian squad that placed fourth in the 2007 Women's World Cup held in China. After Skarbø competed with Christine Colombo Nilsen and Ingrid Hjelmseth for the No. 1 goalkeeper position, Bjarne Berntsen announced on 2 May 2008 that Skarbø would be Norway's new No. 1 GK, replacing long-time keeper, Bente Nordby. The 2009 UEFA Women's Championship, or just Women's Euro 2009, was played in Finland between 23 August and 10 September 2009. The host was appointed on 11 July 2006, in a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Berlin and the Finnish proposal won over the Dutch proposal. The UEFA Women's Championship is a regular tournament involving European national teams from countries affiliated to UEFA, the European governing body, who have qualified for the competition. Football at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held in Beijing and several other cities in the People's Republic of China from 6 to 23 August. Associations affiliated with FIFA were invited to send their full women's national teams and men's U-23 teams to participate. 2008 Algarve Cup
The 2008 Algarve Cup was the fifteenth edition of the Algarve Cup, an invitational women's football tournament held annually in Portugal. It took place between 5 and 12 March 2008 with the reigning champions the United States winning the event for a record sixth time, after defeating Denmark, 2–1, in the final game in a repeat of the previous year's final. Format The twelve invited teams were split into three groups that played a round-robin tournament. The 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, the fifth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup, was an international association football competition for women held in China from 10 to 30 September 2007. Originally, China was to host the 2003 edition, but the outbreak of SARS in that country forced that event to be moved to the United States. FIFA immediately granted the 2007 event to China, which meant that no new host nation was chosen competitively until the voting was held for the 2011 Women's World Cup.
