Elisabetta Sirani
Elisabetta Sirani (8 January 1638 – 28 August 1665) was an Italian Baroque painter and printmaker who died in unexplained circumstances at the age of 27. She was a pioneering female artist in early modern Bologna, who established an academy for other women artists. Life Elisabetta Sirani was born in Bologna on 8 January 1638, the first of four children of Margherita and Giovanni Andrea Sirani. Giovanni was an art merchant and painter of the Bolognese School, School of Bologna, having been a favorite pupil of Guido Reni. He did not produce many works during his lifetime; instead, he took over Reni's job as a teacher, and became the master in the first life school held in the house of Ettore Ghislieri. Sirani first trained as a painter in her father's studio. There is evidence that Giovanni was not inclined, at first, to have his daughter as a pupil, but she picked up his technique nonetheless and became one of the most renowned painters in Bologna. Elisabetta de Gambarini (7 September 1730 – 9 February 1765) was an English composer, mezzo-soprano, organist, harpsichordist, pianist, orchestral conductor and painter of the 18th century. Elisabetta's music is considered late Baroque music, Baroque and Classical music. She achieved distinction as an all-around musician, performing on, and composing for a variety of instruments as well as voice. Her compositions were known to reflect that of vocal work instead of instrumental patterns. She was the first female composer in Britain to publish a collection of keyboard music. Maria Elisabetta Casellati (; born 12 August 1946) is an Italian lawyer and politician. She was President of the Italian Senate from 2018 to 2022. She was the first woman ever to have held this position. Casellati is a long-time member of the liberal-conservative party Forza Italia and served as Undersecretary of Health and Justice in previous governments. Elisabetta Gonzaga
Elisabetta Gonzaga (1471–1526) was a noblewoman of the Italian Renaissance, renowned for her cultured and virtuous life. A member of the House of Gonzaga, she was a sister of Francesco II Gonzaga, Marquess of Mantua and by marriage the Duchess of Urbino. Because her husband, Duke Guidobaldo da Montefeltro, was impotent, Elisabetta never had children of her own, but did adopt her husband's nephew and heir, Francesco Maria I della Rovere. Elisabetta Terabust (5 August 1946 – 5 February 2018) was an Italian ballerina and company director. She trained at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and worked for the London Festival Ballet (now the English National Ballet) and the Ballet National de Marseille. Terabust served as was director of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, La Scala, MaggioDanza of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and of the Corps de ballet at the Teatro di San Carlo at various points between 1990 and 2009. Elisabetta Sanna (full name ''Elisabetta Sanna Porcu'') (23 April 1788 – 17 February 1857) was an Italian Roman Catholic from Codrongianos Province of Sassari who was an active member of both the Secular Franciscan Order and the Union of the Catholic Apostolate. In the latter she was a friend and compatriot of Vincent Pallotti. As a result of smallpox, Sanna was for the most part disabled and further ailments prevented her from returning to her hometown after departing on a pilgrimage; this forced her to take up residence in Rome where she later died. Sanna married and bore seven children but was widowed after almost two decades of marriage. Pope Francis proclaimed her to be Venerable in 2014 after determining that she lived a model Christian life of heroic virtue. Elisabetta Vendramini (9 April 1790 – 2 April 1860) was an Italian Roman Catholic professed religious who established the Franciscan Elizabethan Sisters in 1830 in Padua. She relocated there after she broke off her engagement to a man from Ferrara. Her beatification process commenced on 30 December 1938 - under Pope Pius XI - in a move that granted her the title of Servant of God. Elisabetta Querini (November 12, 1628 in Venice – January 19, 1709 in Venice) was the Dogaressa of Venice by marriage to the Doge Silvestro Valier (r. 1694-1700). Querini is described as the only Venetian dogaressa of any significance of the 17th century since Morosina Morosini-Grimani. Her consort was said to be known in history mostly through her. Although the Grand Council had, in 1645, abolished the elaborate ceremony for installing a new ''dogaressa'', because of its large expense to the state and to the Doge, Valiero convinced the council to grant an exception. Elisabetta Keller, also known as Elisabeth Keller, (6 July 1891 – 19 February 1969) was a Swiss artist born in Italy and a founder of the Italian Soroptimist Club. Keller worked in many media, but preferred pastels. Though she created landscapes and still life, she was noted for her portraits, which were often of the upper-class and bourgeoisie of Milan. Among her subjects were her close friend, the poet Delio Tessa, and Pope Pius XI, a long-time family friend.
