Elisabeth Blomqvist
Elisabeth Blomqvist (1827–1901) was a Finnish educator. She was the principal of the state girl school '' Svenska fruntimmersskolan i Helsingfors'' (Swedish Girl School of Helsinki) between 1864 and 1898. She was a pioneer within women's education in Finland, a leading reformer and the founder of the first seminary of female teachers (1861). Early life and career Elisabeth Blomqvist was the daughter of the professor Alexander Blomqvist (1796-1848) and the governess Christina Charlotta Harring (1799-1850) in Helsinki. In 1850, her mother and her aunt Anette Harring (d. 1852) opened a school in her home ''Blomqvistska skolan'', to support the family, which was taken over by Elisabeth Blomqvist after their deaths. In 1856, she made a study trip to France and Germany, and upon her return in 1858, she reopened the Blomqvistska skolan, now with serious educational ambitions. Svenska Fruntimmersskolan I Helsingfors
Svenska fruntimmersskolan i Helsingfors ('Swedish Women's School of Helsinki') or only Svenska fruntimmersskolan ('Swedish Women's School') was a Girls' School in Helsinki in Finland, active from 1844 to 1974. Alongside its equivalent in Åbo ( fi, Turku), '' Svenska fruntimmersskolan i Åbo'' (1844–1955), it was the first state school for females in Finland. Maria Tschetschulin
Maria Tschetschulin (1852–1917), was a Finnish clerk. She was the first woman to attend university in Finland. Maria Tschetschulin, who was of Russian descent through her Russian father, was the daughter of the steam boat owner Feodor Tschetschulin and Hilda Eckstein in Helsinki. After the death of her father and the bankruptcy of her family, she applied for a permission to study to support her family, having three younger sisters. In 1870, she became the first female university student in Finland at the University of Helsinki. Women were not allowed to study there, but she was given special dispensation to do so, and thus became the first woman in the Nordic countries to do so: though women in Sweden was given the right to attend university the same year, the first woman, Betty Pettersson, did not enlist at university until the year after. Hanna Andersin
Johanna Ottiliana “Hanna” Andersin (30 August 1861 – 7 April 1914), was a Finland, Finnish educator. She was the principal of the first Gymnasium (school) for females in Helsinki in 1907–1914 and is regarded to have played an important part in the history of the education of women in Finland.
