Elijah Johnson ( 1789 – April 3, 1849) was an African American who was one of the first colonial agents of the American Colonization Society in what later became Liberia. He was probably born in New Jersey, and received some limited schooling in New Jersey and New York. He served as a soldier in the War of 1812 and studied for the Methodist ministry. In 1835 he led a company of 120 armed volunteers from Monrovia on a punitive expedition to engage King Joe as a result of the Port Cresson massacre. His son Hilary R. W. Johnson was elected in 1884 as President of Liberia, the first to have been born in the country. Early life and children Elijah Johnson was of mixed-race ancestry, and was born about 1790 probably in New York. Elijah K. Johnson (born July 11, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for Maccabi Ashdod of the Israeli Premier League. He played college basketball at the University of Kansas before playing professionally in Poland, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Germany and Israel. College career Johnson committed to Kansas after receiving offers from Cincinnati and Connecticut. He was a bench player his first two years and played sparingly. As a junior, he was moved into the starting lineup and contributed to the national runner-up team. He had five points, two steals, and a rebound in the final 3:12 in a win against Purdue in the NCAA Tournament. Johnson averaged 10.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game on the season. Elijah Johnson (born June 24, 1998), also known as EJ, is an American singer and actor, and former member of the boy band Mindless Behavior. Born in Detroit, Detroit, Michigan, EJ began his career playing the character of Young Simba in the Disney Broadway Production of ''The Lion King (musical), The Lion King''. Later in his career, EJ became the lead singer of the Kidz Bop crew until 2013. EJ is also known for performance on stage many times as a kid and for his singles "Meet Me on the Dance Floor". Elijah Johnson is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Jay Laga'aia. When the serial created the character, they felt it was a role that would be well suited to Laga'aia and invited him to join the cast. Laga'aia accepted and filmed for a number of months before leaving to film for a separate project. Laga'aia agreed to return to filming in November 2010. In February 2012, it was announced Laga'aia had finished filming with ''Home and Away'' and Elijah departed on screen on 11 April 2012.
